1 Bedside tables

First of all, you should think about what exactly will be stored at the head of the bed and whether you really need these things. Those who do not wear glasses, do not read before going to bed and charge the phone in another room to get enough sleep better, in principle, you can leave a sleeping place without additional furniture around. If something still needs to be kept at hand, you can pick up a bed with a voluminous headboard, which has enough space for a couple of little things. There is also an option to hang a small shelf or put a miniature table next to it, which looks visually easier and more interesting than standard bedside tables.

2 Coffee table

Another interior cliche between the TV and the soft group must be a coffee table. But in practice, because of it, it is often inconvenient to approach the sofa, there is nowhere to put your feet, and if you put something on the countertop, you will not see the lower part of the screen.

Alternative

The absence of a coffee table often does not interfere with comfort in any way. Even on the contrary: for example, it helps to unlearn eating in front of the TV screen. In addition, if you remove excess furniture, it will visually relieve the living room. And magazines can be aesthetically stored on bookshelves, in shelves or in a beautiful floor drawer.

3 Kitchen Island

Kitchen Island is an interesting and beautiful piece of furniture that looks great on exhibition stands, in interior blogs and on film stills. Therefore, many people try to find any way to fit it into a typical layout. As a result, it turns out that it is problematic to put a stove or sink on it, and in a small kitchen it is difficult to bypass the overall design, since it is impossible to make sufficiently wide passages.

Alternative

There are several alternative solutions for storage and an additional work area that can be implemented without cluttering the kitchen with an island:

4 Chair

The chair is too large a piece of furniture to buy it without thinking about future use. It often turns out that in the end the product is liked only by pets. Therefore, analyze your usual leisure time at home: perhaps no one really needs a book corner or an addition to the sofa, and the chair will be empty, occupying a useful area and collecting dust.

Alternative

Compare the number of household members and how many people usually rest in the living room at the same time. Often a sofa for two or three is quite enough. And if you dreamed of a chair in the bedroom, think about whether you really need it so much: it often turns into a haven for clothes that you are too lazy to hang in the closet. Perhaps, in this case, it is better to put a floor hanger instead.

5 Bedside table in the hallway

In the hallway it seems logical to put a bedside table for storing small things like gloves, keys, masks, etc. But in practice, even a compact model takes up space, while not providing enough space so that you can grab everything you need on the run and get out.

Alternative

It is convenient when the storage in the hallway consists of a well-thought-out closed system in which shoes and outerwear are placed, and a small open shelf or hanging console. You can place perfume on it, put keys and documents, travel tickets in a vase. And there will even be a place for decoration.
