A Victorian-style house with a bright interior Design 19.02.2022 This sophisticated snow-white Victorian house in the suburbs of London surprises with an abundance of color and bright wallpaper in its interior Photo Inigo This elegant snow-white house is located on a quiet street in North Islington (a suburb of London), in the conservation area of Tollington Park. It was built at the beginning of the reign of Queen Victoria at the turn of the epochs, so it carries a unique combination of features of two architectural styles at once – Victorian and Georgian. It is believed that it was built by the British architects Alexander Dick Gough (Alexander Dick Gough) and Robert Lewis Roumieu (Robert Lewis Roumieu) between 1837 and 1848, who authored several villas with gardens in the nearby Tollington Park. White Lodge is waiting for new people who want to settle in it. Photo inigo The three-storey mansion impresses from the street with its splendor. There are four huge French windows on the facade at once. To get inside, you need to pass through an arched opening formed by a canopy that protects from the weather. The apartment occupies the top three floors and most of the building, besides it there are three smaller apartments in the house. 1/3 Photo: Inigo In the interior, classics are combined with bright colors and modern details. Many historical details have been preserved and restored: windows, cast-iron radiators, stairs and ceiling sockets. This is a bright room that is illuminated through large windows on both sides – east and west, so that the room is literally flooded with light. The heated oak parquet and the antique fireplace in the marble portal guarantee warmth even on the most inclement days. Photo Inigo The kitchen, made especially for this interior, is equipped with all necessary modern appliances. There is even a large built-in wine cabinet — the owners know a lot about good wines! The walls in the kitchen area are painted in a fashionable pale pink shade of Desert Rose from the Paper collection & Paint Library, and the dining area is covered with wallpaper with a bright floral print from House of Hackney, which perfectly harmonizes with the dark green kitchen facades and numerous living greenery decorating the interior. Photo inigo On the second floor there is a bright main living room with a sculptural marble fireplace and a small living room with a bar area in maroon tones, as well as two bedrooms. One of them is now equipped with a home office for remote work. From the bar area there is an exit to the outdoor terrace – a summer outdoor living room with a beautiful view of the garden. On the top floor there are two more bedrooms and a spacious bathroom with a shower, decorated with glossy dark green herringbone tiles, brass fittings and decorative wallpaper. Photo Inigo Photo Inigo Photo Inigo In the design, much attention is paid to color. Black, dark green, different shades of blue and pale pink – all this is harmoniously woven into the “canvas” of the interior and gives a modern look to the century-old walls of this house. In addition to unusual color solutions, wallpaper with an active pattern helps to give dynamics to the interior, which are found everywhere here (and even in the decoration of bathrooms!) All this allows you to create a bright, memorable, but at the same time cozy and harmonious space in which classic details enter into a dialogue with modern decor and furniture.
