Alice Shabelnikova’s customers have lived in the USA for several years and preferred the style of traditional American classics for their Moscow apartment, which the designer diluted with modern art and “hooligan” decor

“The customer at the very first meeting told me: “Alice, I don’t need three bedrooms (as was provided by the developer), but four. There is also a living room-kitchen, two bathrooms, a dressing room, lots and lots of storage space. And all this should be spacious and beautiful.”So there was a task to make a “secret room”, because there was simply no window to the fourth bedroom,” says the designer.

“On the sides of the fireplace there are showcases, which, in addition to their main storage function, play the role of windows for the guest bedroom. The trick is that they are located on the same axis with the windows in the living room, so daylight freely enters the room. On the bedroom side, the showcases are framed by Roman curtains, which provide an opportunity for privacy.”

“For the whole apartment, I chose a calm range consisting of a limited number of colors in order to achieve the integrity of perception and visually increase the space. All cabinet furniture, including the kitchen set, was made to order according to sketches in the carpentry workshop. Upstairs there are lockers with glass doors specially for storing the old collection of German dishes of the hostess of the apartment. The kitchen apron is made of moisture-resistant MDF with a stone rim at the countertop for practicality.”

“Despite the modest size of the master bedroom, we managed to find a place for a built—in showcase – the customer likes to collect Lladro porcelain figurines. In the girl’s nursery, I was inspired by the floral pattern on the wallpaper: they set the color scheme for the whole room. In the boy’s room, a classic combination of ochre and blue shades combined with brass table lamps give comfort and warmth.”

“In the hallway, under the guise of a neat locker under the mirror, there is a large shoe box with pull-out nets made to order. In the bathroom, despite the small area, a whole block with a washing machine and dryer and a place for storing household items is hidden behind the doors.”
