Apartment with a view of the Melnikov House Design 11.06.2022 Designer Ksenia Bobrikova designed the interior in the neoclassical style The apartment is located in the courtyards of the Old Arbat, and the famous Melnikov House is visible from one of the windows. “This largely influenced the choice of interior style, which I would define as neoclassical,” says architect–designer Ksenia Bobrikova. – My concept was to emphasize the location of the house with a classic interior style. At the same time, the building itself is quite modern.” Living room. Modus console, Porada. Sofa, Vibieffe. In short, she leads an active and dynamic life of a modern woman of a large metropolis,” Ksenia continues. – Initially, she planned to limit herself to cosmetic repairs, even wanted to keep some of the cabinet furniture. But since the layout was unsuccessful, I offered two radically different options. The first is in the old walls, the second is with the demolition of all partitions. Fortunately, the customer liked the second option. As a result, only a dishwasher and an oven remained from the former interior.” View from the living room to the kitchen. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba Style Lisa Eshwa As a result of the redevelopment, a single kitchen-living room, as well as two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two dressing rooms appeared in the apartment with an area of 84 square meters. “The space has become more logical. From the hallway we get into an open living room, and the rooms are occupied by separate blocks. The area of a small hall has entered the total volume of the living room, significantly increasing it,” says Ksenia. A semicircular wall divides the zones of L-shaped space in terms of space. In one part there is a kitchen, in the other a sofa area. Hanging shelf-box Tesia, Porada. The semicircular wall is covered with wallpaper with imitation glass mosaic Glass from Elitis. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba Style Lisa Eshwa There was only one problem — the entrance to the main bathroom from the living room. It had to be arranged so that the door could not be seen from the kitchen and from the dining table. The solution was a semicircular wall with end niches. On the hallway side, it is used as a rack for bags, and on the other side — as a decorative niche with lighting. At the same time, the wall itself was made accentuated due to an interesting coating imitating mosaic masonry. Hallway. Banquette, Piermaria. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba Style Lisa Eshwa With a relatively small area of the apartment, it is necessary to choose furniture, its shape and dimensions carefully. Preference was given to Italian factories. The decoration is dominated by natural veneer combined with metal and varnish. Chrome and steel are not chosen by chance. They made the interior more austere and architectural. A fragment of the living room. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba Style Lisa Eshwa A fragment of the living room. Cabinet and rack for TV, Besana. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba Style Lisa Ashwa From the interior of the bedroom, the customer wanted a sense of austerity and luxury of a good European hotel room. Before the redevelopment, the bed stood opposite the window, and the closet doors ran along the short side of the bedroom, such an arrangement made the room rather boring and ordinary. Now, with the mirror doors closed, it is not at all easy to notice the presence of a spacious dressing room, and the circular motion turned out to be extremely convenient in using a small space. From the bedroom side, the headboard is a flat surface with built-in lamps. On the sides there are niches for small things, compensating for the absence of bedside tables, and on top the surface is used as a shelf. A fragment of the bedroom. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba Style Lisa Ashwa The design of the bedroom was based on the image of “a cup of hot and fragrant cappuccino with a bar of bitter chocolate”. Dark curtains made of wool with cashmere, chocolate-colored tweed bedspread, pillows made of cashmere, wool and mohair, gray tulle made of crepe created this mood. A fragment of the bedroom. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba Style Lisa Ashwa In the entire apartment, except for the bathrooms, the same almond shade of paint is used for the walls. In addition to the color, the walls have a texture. Thanks to the base of fine quartz, the walls have acquired a special matte finish and resistance to contamination. This choice was not made by chance. The neutrality of the walls reveals the details of the situation, making furniture and accessories more vivid and noticeable, besides, the space is perceived holistically, which visually expands its boundaries, making them more blurred.
