Designer Ulyana Stepanishcheva created an elegant interior for a young couple, in which the classics are harmoniously combined with modernity

“The project’s customers, a young married couple, came to me on the recommendation of friends. This is not their first home, and they are used to a certain way of life. The couple definitely needed a dressing room, an island in the kitchen, a bathroom for relaxation and a fireplace. It was also necessary to fit into the interior a favorite mirror from IKEA, which is moving with customers to the third apartment,” says designer Ulyana Stepanishcheva.

“Customers like to watch movies and spend time with family and friends, so almost half of the area was occupied by a spacious kitchen-living room with a large sofa and an island. In the wall between the windows we put a piano, which is played by the hostess of the house. In the private part of the apartment, it was possible to allocate a block with a bedroom, a dressing room, a bathroom, as well as a small laundry room. I beat the corridor with the help of interior lighting. When you change the rotation of the lamp, you can achieve a different light picture, which brings dynamics to a seemingly not the most interesting room.”

“At the request of the customer, we made all the walls in the apartment gray. The kitchen-living room is made in a complex shade with a purple undertone, which looks advantageous in a duet with walnut doors. In the bedroom, the same shade is combined with wooden panels. In the corridor, we used gray with a slight addition of yellow pigment, and for the study, which later should become a nursery, we chose a light neutral shade.”

“We also used copper tones in the interior, which are inspired by the color of Korten steel on the facades of the building. The doors of kitchen cabinets are painted in a metallic shade, and lamps with copper shades are located above the island. On the floor in the guest bathroom there was an Italian tile imitating the korten, and a turquoise color on the walls was chosen for it.”

“The style of the spouse is closer to modern interiors, and the wife — more classic options. As a result of long discussions, it was possible to reach an agreement and use classic moldings, but in a modern layout. A selection has appeared on the walls of the living room, on parts of kitchen facades and built-in wardrobes, which also echoes classic furniture. The owners’ favorite mirror has taken its place in the hallway, and the antique iron presented by dad also stands in a place of honor — on the piano.”
