The four-story building stands in the historic Cobble Hill neighborhood in Brooklyn at the corner of Amity and Clinton Streets, which, according to guidebooks, “still retains the aura of the past thanks to its charming quiet streets and turn-of-the-century architecture.” Space with an area of 130 sq. m. The building was completely redone for the new residents by designers Selma Akkari and Rawan Muqaddas. “We wanted to create a dialogue of two opposites: minimalism, on the one hand, and rich decoration, on the other. We hope that we have managed to organically combine these two so different beginnings,” says Ravan. Photo Sean Davidson The interiors are decorated in a warm palette: beige-cream walls, oak floors… On this neutral background, its expressive details look especially impressive: a dark fireplace in a stone portal, bookshelves made of dark wood. Arched vaults and rounded furniture add comfort to the space and create a pleasant, slightly nostalgic atmosphere that perfectly matches the historical architecture of the building. Among the furniture, you can notice recognized icons of modernist design, such as, for example, the Paimio armchair by designAlvar Aalto and the Akari floor lampIsamu Noguchi, which are harmoniously combined with wicker stools and upholstered furniture in fashionable boucle upholstery.
