But everything has been wrong for a long time: in recent years, the shower curtain has experienced a real evolution and has ceased to be considered a dubious accessory. Modern models look stylish, they are easy to fit into almost any project. There is also an alternative to frame structures. We tell you about it.

It performs several tasks at once. The main ones can be formulated as follows.

Kinds

Today there really is a lot to choose from. But first you have to decide which curtains for the bath will be better in your case: soft, frameless, or rigid, frame.

Soft

These are all well-known canvases made of PVC or textiles. They have their advantages.

The main disadvantage of such models is considered to be a short service life. But this rather concerns inexpensive canvases. Products made of modern materials with proper care can maintain an attractive appearance for years.

Rigid structures

These are glass or plastic barriers. They are chosen by those for whom the following advantages are important.

There are also disadvantages: more complex installation, high price.

What are soft curtains made of

In stores, you can still find thin curtains that are inconvenient to use. But there are others, more high-quality and elegant, which perfectly fit into modern interiors. So, what are curtains made of today?

Vinyl

A fairly large category of products. This includes common PVC, that is, polyvinyl chloride. It is the thin PVC cloths that often stick. Therefore, it is better to choose more dense options.

Let’s list all the options.

All three options are absolutely waterproof.

Polyester

100% synthetic material. Polyester yarns are obtained from refined petroleum products. This fabric is considered one of the most durable and wear-resistant, which does not prevent it from being very light, drying quickly. It turns out an almost ideal set of characteristics for textiles in the wet zone.

What are the polyester bath curtains? There are two options: made of pure polyester and with the addition of natural fibers.

Curtains made of pure polyester do not look like an oilcloth. Thanks to the features of the fabric, they fall in beautiful smooth folds, do not stick. Polyester is usually additionally treated with a water-repellent impregnation, and it becomes completely waterproof. Curtains made of this material can be washed, not only by hand, but also in a typewriter. The main thing is to follow the temperature recommendations.

The second option: mixed fabric. For example, polyester + linen or polyester + cotton. Usually a ratio of 90×10 is maintained, where 90% are artificial fibers and 10% are natural. Such canvases look even more elegant and noble. Special impregnation allows them to cope with the main task, protection from splashes. The products can be machine washed. Perhaps their only drawback is a rather high price.
