Before and after: how the designer transformed an apartment in a Moscow renovation house Design 08.04.2022 Natalia Shirokorad turned an apartment with a nondescript renovation into a stylish and comfortable space for a family with two children. Customers and tasks This apartment is located in a new monolithic house built according to the renovation program. The owners, a family with two teenage boys, wanted to turn a house with a standard renovation into a stylish and comfortable space for their family. To do this, they turned to designer Natalia Shirokorad. “The owners didn’t have any special wishes, says Natalia. They needed to arrange the apartment so that everyone was comfortable and that all things found their place.” Redevelopment According to the original plan, there were 4 rooms, a kitchen, two balconies, two bathrooms and two bathrooms on 107 square meters. Global redevelopment was not done, since the number and area of rooms correlated with the composition of the family of customers. Small changes affected the bathrooms, they were combined into two spacious bathrooms. The first one, located closer to the entrance, was enlarged due to the adjacent corridor in order to organize a shower and fit the laundry area. In this regard, the entrance to the kitchen was moved and made from the living room. We also made small “edits” to the layout of the balconies. The door block was removed from the one adjacent to the kitchen, leaving an empty opening (for the approval of the door, after all, approx. editorial offices). A large loggia, which is adjacent to two bedrooms at the same time, was divided and made exits to both rooms. The doorways were also left empty.
