When Aldo moved here, the apartment looked completely “killed”, but it had one big advantage – location. “Let it sound like a real estate agency brochure, but it really is: it’s easy to get to any point in Milan from here,” Chibik laughs. Photo ELENIO BARBETTA In order to put the house in order and turn it into a cozy and comfortable living accommodation, the designer had to put a lot of effort. “Everything in this apartment is made by my hands: architectural solutions, design project and even furniture. I dare to use such a metaphor: I am a ship, and this house is a safe haven in the chaotic and sometimes stormy sea of a large metropolis.” Chair, Vintage, Thonet. Photo ELENIO BARBETTA In the living room there are two-level ceilings and a large window through which a lot of light gets inside, so it is light here and there is a feeling of “air”. And there is also a large table, at which Aldo likes to work, and a soft sofa. The kitchen and bathroom, on the contrary, are small and “chamber”, although they also have their own windows that overlook a typical Milanese courtyard paved with cobblestones and covered with ivy. The miniature kitchen was hidden behind the swing doors. The design is inspired by the kitchens on the ship. Stainless steel tile, Alpes Inox. A few years ago I worked on a project called “More with Less”, and I see my house as a natural continuation and evolution of this project.” Favorite place in the house? “Actually, there are three of them! I like to spend time on the couch, at the table and in bed,” Chibik laughs. — This is a micro-apartment where I actually live alone and which I conceived as my “nest”.” Photo ELENIO BARBETTA Anastasia Rylova Original content from the site
