This project started a little unusual for architect Maria Bakhareva — a regular client asked to arrange an apartment, but did not know who would settle in it — housing was purchased as an investment. Thus, the task was to create a universal interior with a win-win style of modern classics, without going beyond the budget.

The apartment is located in a new residential complex in the Begovaya district, with magnificent views of Moscow City, the hippodrome and the city center from the high floor. One of the features was a rather complex layout, given the initial data of the object itself. Taking into account the load-bearing structures and the location of wet zones, Maria proposed several layouts, explaining to the customer the pros and cons of each of them. As a result, we settled on an option that would be similar for the average tenants: a young family with two children.

The apartment is divided into two large blocks: on one side there is a common area of the living room-kitchen-dining room, there is also a master bedroom block with its own wardrobe and bathroom, and the second part is a nursery and an office, where separate dressing rooms and bathrooms are also provided.

Against the laconic white background of the dining room, dark furniture and a chandelier in black metal, imitating a large candlestick with candles, stand out spectacularly. Chairs, Flexform Mood. Style and color are directly related to the layout. “If we talk about the style of the project, it is a modern classic. At that time, I wanted something as white and graphic as possible, so half of the apartment became just that. This is a white base, on which black, graphic details, fittings, metal look spectacular.

All the color accents have moved to another “wing”, where the study and the nursery are located. Why? Firstly, for more variety — suddenly someone will get bored with monochrome, – and secondly, because I really like the combination of blue with caramel, — Maria laughs, pointing to her blue-caramel business suit, — I use these colors in clothes and have noticed for a long time that they look great together. They create a very cozy atmosphere in the interior, and besides, they are quite rare in this combination, which is also important.”

The compositional center of the dining room is Evgenia Infelitsina’s painting “Nightingale”. Thanks to the full-length mirror, the dining room is flooded with sunlight during the day and seems much larger.

The boundary is a grand—looking hall – it immediately attracts the attention of guests with a corrugated panel decorated with a bas-relief of Benoit Everly, found in Balchug Gallery. The work in the original was white, but since a contrasting object was required for the entrance area, the masters repainted it black and gilded it with potala. A graphic lamp made of white metal is another center of attraction in this space. It is visually supported by a laconic black metal console made to order according to the designer’s sketches.

The austerity of simple shapes and monochrome is softened by the subtle graphics of the Cole & Son wallpaper from the Reflections collection, which depicts an ancient Italian city. A large mirror on the opposite wall reflects the drawing and gives more light, so that a small hall looks lighter and more voluminous.

To the right of the hall there is a bright living room, to which a spacious kitchen decorated in dark colors adjoins on one side, and a dining room on the other. Everything is designed in soft monochrome, the intensity of which changes smoothly from the kitchen with dark facades and marble through the neutral living room with a black-and-white accent bar Baxter (WireFrame model) to the light-filled dining room (windows overlooking the racetrack give excellent insolation).

The kitchen flows smoothly into the living room thanks to the built-in display cabinets made of the same dark veneer as the kitchen facades.

At the other end of the living room there is a kitchen with a bay window, which Maria decided to make functional and placed there a built-in sofa and a breakfast table.

The kitchen is made in Italy according to the drawings and visualizations of the author of the project.

From the living room through a spacious walk-in closet you get to the master bedroom. It is very bright and solved in a softer, classic way — the walls are decorated with moldings: simple, geometric, with graphic edging. As in the living room, there are black accents here, but they are softened and balanced by a light powdery shade of textiles (curtains, bed linen, carpet).

The wall on which the TV hangs is made dark and textured so that the screen is not too conspicuous and does not look like a “black spot” in the bedroom interior.

In the second “wing” of the apartment, bright colors come to replace the strict monochrome. For the nursery and bathroom with her, Maria chose a contrasting combination of dark blue and warm, caramel. The latter is present in suede, which covers the wall, in inserts of textured wallpaper with bronze metallic Phillip Jeffries, carpet pattern and even glass lamps — a complex combination of materials and shades of the same color adds decorativeness and showiness to the space.

Despite the small square footage, the nursery has everything you need: in addition to the bed, there is a small guest area with an armchair, a work desk, a chest of drawers, a TV and a dressing room. The bathroom turned out to be quite spacious — there was even a place for a free-standing bathtub in it, which, together with decorative items and art on the wall, creates the atmosphere of a SPA salon.

The bathroom is attached to the nursery. The furniture is made to order according to the drawings of the bureau “Bakharev and partners”. Marble, Nero Shara and Staluario Select. Bath, Villery & Boch. On the wall is an artistic photo of Mikhail Stepanov “Water Lilies”.

Next to the nursery there is an office, which is designed as a guest room and in the future a second nursery. To make the room look solid, the facades of a spacious closet located in a niche are duplicated on the second half of the wall: a door hides behind them.

“By the way, while we were doing this project, the clients decided to settle here themselves,” says Maria. — This is a young family with a child. The office is still being used for its intended purpose, but if they want to change, nothing will have to be radically redone: the thoughtful layout and versatile design allows you to use the room for different purposes.” A calm olive color has been chosen for the study, which is equally well suited for the work area, for the guest bedroom, and for a potential nursery. And guests will sleep comfortably on a large folding sofa Meridiane.
