The owners of this apartment, a married couple without children, are people with good taste, ready for experiments. “Both spouses work at home, so we had to organize two isolated offices. They decided to leave the living room combined with the kitchen. Otherwise, the customers completely trusted us and gave us carte blanche,” says architect Natalia Rybakova.

“Initially, the apartment was one-story. It was a dreary little room with absurdly large windows and high ceilings. The owners asked me to make a small sleeping place on the mezzanine, taking advantage of the height, but I designed a full-fledged floor, increasing the area of the apartment by as much as 20 sq. m. meters.

Customers immediately said that they needed a reasonable, functional layout without gross regulatory violations. Therefore, we left the bathrooms in the same place and in the same dimensions as the developer had. The loggia was also not particularly touched: it is an isolated, insulated room without connection to central heating. Everything else has changed dramatically.”

Glass partitions are made to order according to individual sketches of the author of the project, @steklopolis.

“The hostess wanted a calm interior in gray tones without unnecessary details, modern and minimalistic. Therefore, we chose concrete, wood, marble and made black accents to emphasize the graphics of the space. The living room was left two-light, so there is a lot of air and there is a very pleasant, not oppressive feeling of calm.

In the less illuminated part of the apartment there is a spacious dressing room, a wardrobe for outerwear, a spectacular staircase, a bathroom combined with a laundry room.”

The podium in the living room zone zones the space, and at the same time solves a number of technical problems. The owners were strongly opposed to bar stools, but they liked the idea of a bar counter. Therefore, it was decided to put ordinary dining chairs on the side of the living room at the bar — thanks to the podium, their height is quite enough.

Most of the built-in furniture is made to order specifically for this project, which allowed us to solve the problem of storage organization. At the same time, the interior remained light and not cluttered with things. There is nothing superfluous in it: of the free—standing items, only a sofa, a bed, chairs, compact coffee tables – everything you need.

On the second floor there is a bedroom and a miniature study with full-length stained glass windows and a view of the living room, as well as another small bathroom. “Initially, the customer was very skeptical about the idea of leaving the ceiling concrete,” recalls the author of the project. “But his wife was completely in favor, in the end the final decision was hers, and he liked the result very much in the end.”
