Classic-style apartment on Chistye Prudy: Daria Russu’s project Design 19.11.2022 The classic style of the interior was determined by the apartment itself – a two-storey apartment with five-meter ceilings, located in the very center of Moscow. The author of the project, designer Daria Russu, tells about how the work went on. In the living room, as in all rooms on the second floor of the apartment, the ceiling height is about five meters, the doorways are three meters high. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV “This project is the case when “the situation obliged,” says designer Daria Russu. — The old house on Chistye Prudy demanded respect for the architecture and location of the house. This determined not only the style of the interior, but also the choice of materials. It is not by chance that luxurious crystal chandeliers, a floor made of massive engineering boards, boiserie wall panels appeared here, which we made together with the masters of the Paris studio Concept Design/Marc Dalle. They also completed all the doors and most of the built-in furniture.” The dining room is on the second floor. The sideboard and chandelier were in the apartment before the renovation. The chairs, Moissonnier, are upholstered in fabrics from Mis En Demeure and Nobilis. Bianco Perlino marble window sills. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV “Historically, there were two apartments here, which were combined with the help of stairs. The first occupied the lower floor — over the years it turned into a basement level slightly sunk into the ground, the second apartment is right above it.” Dining table with balustrade legs “Chatsworth”, Homeconcept. Carpet, Kutuzovsky interiors. Chairs with curly backs Florence, Mis en Demeure. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV “The first floor has a ceiling height of about three meters. There is a bar, a hostess’s dressing room, a men’s office, a bathroom and a laundry room. At the same time, the front second floor with five-meter ceilings and three-meter doorways is reserved for a living room, a kitchen-dining room, a bedroom and a nursery. Due to the high ceiling height in the rooms, it was possible to build a mezzanine. The master’s wardrobe is located in the bedroom on the mezzanine, and an additional playroom is located in the children’s room.” Kitchen, La Cornue. The apron is tiled from the Neri, Adex series. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV “The customers are a young couple with a daughter, actively participated in the work on the project and even at the very beginning of the work they knew what they wanted to get at the end. Together we carefully controlled all stages of the work, paying attention to every seam, every tile, every joint. And the hostess took the selection of the decor completely into her own hands.” The corridor is on the second floor. The console is a legacy of the previous interior. On the wall is a painting by Alexey Begak. The floor is made of engineering board, “Good floor”. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV “The wall decoration with Boiserie panels and the author’s products made to order by French and Italian craftsmen are not striking, but they make up a strong backbone of this interior,” Daria continues. “The furniture makers did all the drawings by hand, they approached every detail very carefully, and the result was amazing.” The furniture in the bedroom on the second floor has been preserved from the previous interior. The walls are decorated with boiserie panels made by craftsmen from the Paris studio Concept Design/Marc Dalle. Paint, Little Greene. Bianco Perlino marble window sills. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV “Gypsum cornices in the dining room and living room, which reach 50 centimeters in height, deserve special attention. The plaster, which according to the technology was mounted still slightly damp, was very heavy, and each segment was hardly lifted to a height of five meters by two men. But the result was worth it! With such a ceiling height, the high cornice looks great from below.” The old brick walls with metal ties were preserved in their original form, but transformed by artistic painting. They didn’t change the batteries, they just painted them. Wooden windows, Bayerwaldstudio. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV The walls are decorated with boiserie panels. Paint, Little Greene. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV “However, a space with high ceilings is not only a beauty, but also a danger of getting the effect of a well room,” Daria notes. — It is for these reasons that during the previous renovation, the ceiling in the apartment was greatly understated. Fortunately, we managed to persuade customers to raise the ceilings as much as possible. In the end, everyone was satisfied. The main rooms turned out to be so spacious and cozy that you don’t want to leave them.” The main bathroom. Plumbing and floor mirror, Devon & Devon. The customers were a little afraid that everything would be visible from the stairs. But the stained glass window masked everything that was happening inside and brought soft natural light from the windows in the staircase hall into the room.” The nursery is on the second floor. Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV “In the bar located on the ground floor, we opened the previously sewn vaulted brick ceilings. At the same time, the bricks in all rooms were not just painted white. After the monochrome painting, the artists artificially aged the surface so that it did not look sterile. We did the same with the new plaster cornices in the front rooms on the second floor. Thanks to this, they look as if they have been here since the construction of the house. And I hope they will stay forever.” www.mama-design.org , www.dariarussu.ru The bar is on the ground floor. In our case, it was a huge boulder discovered during the dismantling of the stairs on the first floor of the building. I don’t even know how long he’s been lying here.” Photo MIKHAIL LOSKUTOV Original content from the site
