Chinese studio Clou Architects has opened its second office in Beijing’s Sanlitun Soho business district. Its panoramic windows offer a beautiful view of the city’s skyscrapers, foothills can be seen on the horizon, and the interior of the office is made in the corporate style of Clou Architects. For example, galvanized steel panels are used in the design of the walls — as in other projects of Beijing architects.

“The cold, minimalist look of the material, the unusual pattern of its surface and the magnetic properties make galvanized steel almost ideal for our design solutions,” say the architects.

Galvanized steel plays a key role in the project, but the interior does not look too cold and unfriendly: designers compensate for its severity with warm wood, soft textiles and other techniques. For example, meeting rooms are fenced off with dense orange-red curtains (the floor inside one of them is made bright blue, and in the other is lined with green terrazzo). And the working area, where architects test 3D-printed models and discuss the nuances of future projects, is completely finished with birch plywood. Complements all this wooden furniture of warm shades. Clou Architects tried to achieve an optimal balance in the combination of materials and in the ergonomics of the room.
