Country house of 250 m2 in the Moscow region Design 09.07.2022 Designers of Atelier Interior studio, led by Marina Braginskaya, created a bright and cozy interior of a country house, filling it with art objects together with customers Canteen. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK Initially, it was assumed that the house would be used more as a summer cottage than for permanent residence. However, it should have provided everything for a comfortable family life and for a long time: a spacious living room, a kitchen, bedrooms for all family members, a guest room, children’s rooms and a study located as far away from the living room as possible so that noise does not interfere with concentrated work. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK “We were asked to make a quiet house in a style that the owners themselves defined as “modern classics,” says Marina Braginskaya, founder of Atelier Interior studio. — At the first meeting, the customer brought photos of her favorite interiors. They were mostly houses in the Hamptons: sea, air, comfort — a real resort atmosphere. It was clear that making a “house by the sea” in the Moscow region was somewhat strange, it was like recreating Provence in a new building. But we tried to convey the feeling of the air and some associations with the sea expanses.” The living room and dining room are combined into one room. Carpets from The Best Rug help to separate the relaxation area from the dining area. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK In the living room, the designers wanted to create a balance of “airy” and “earthly”. The delicate color of the walls and carpets of The Best Rug are responsible for the air. “They look like clouds or sea foam and ideally fall into the “resort” mood set at the very beginning of the work,” says Marina. — Gustav Frutrunk’s active graphic paintings above the sofa, on the contrary, land, add weight. The massive table, the strict geometry of the shelves — it all works for the “earthly” and “solid” in this interior. In a sense, for me, this is a metaphor for the images of the heroes of the project: the couple for whom we created this house.” Sitting area in the living room. Photo sergey krasyuk The main role in the living room is assigned to a sofa upholstered in zebra on transparent acrylic legs from Theodore Alexander. He didn’t show up here right away. “The story of finding a sofa in the living room was long and painful,” says the designer. — All participants in the process had their own vision of how it should be. The owners were wary of the zebra at first, but in the end it turned out to be the best find! Traditional shape, fashionable finish, very comfortable — he brought that exotic touch that the interior lacked so much and did it very “intelligently”.” Living room, sofa upholstered in “zerbra”, Theodore Alexander. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK They designed two entrances in the kitchen and made a circular layout in it, which children usually like so much, but still provided for the possibility to isolate it if necessary. The floor is laid with traditional tiles. “In general, tiles play an important role in this project. We usually prefer natural stone, but here it did not “lie down” in any way, I wanted something artisanal and traditional,” says Marina. — Against this background, the colorful upholstery of Missoni Home chairs acquires a special sound, which enters into a dialogue with the pattern on the floor. And the simple monochrome background of the walls and the sky-blue kitchen, designed by our bureau and made in one of our workshops, helps not to overdo it with decorativeness.” Tile, Vives. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK And in the children’s bathroom with tiles, I had to suffer a lot. “It comes in boxes, and we never know how many pieces we will get and what color. So the drawings are drawings, but the location of each specific tile was determined on the spot, under the supervision of the author, — Marina laughs. — Our architect, Polina Viter, spent hours “playing tetris”, making up the future drawing. As a result, everything fell perfectly in color and direction, so that there were no uneven cuts in the niches and corners.” Children’s bathroom. Tile, Vives. Plumbing, Nicolazzi. The furniture is made to order according to the sketches of the studio. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK The master bedroom turned out to be calm, almost monochrome, made in different shades of the same color (“enveloping and lulling”, as Marina calls it). Thanks to him, the interior looks quite feminine, but without pretentious “boudoir”, and is compensated by a graphic and more “masculine” pattern on cabinets, textiles and carpet. “All this works to create balance in this room,” explains the designer. — And yes, the contrast of textures is also important here: soft cashmere and silky Italian satin bed linen are side by side with a textured Missoni bedspread and a leather headboard.” The master bedroom. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK In the process of work, it became clear that in addition to traditional elements, such as metlakh tiles, solid oak flooring, natural wood, the customer is interested in fashion and loves color. Therefore, bright colors were added to the interior, especially in small rooms: the bathroom turned out to be bright saffron, the hallway was rich turquoise, the study in the attic was a deep gray-blue color. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK By the way, each room of the attic floor is entirely painted in a single color, including the ceiling: this allows you to visually “dissolve” the boundaries and distract attention from low ceilings. “Every time in houses near Moscow with attics, I wonder why developers save so much on the height of the last floors!, — says Marina. “We have to use all sorts of design tricks so that it doesn’t catch the eye.” A fragment of a study in the attic. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK A special pride of the designers is a large number of paintings that can be found here in literally every room, including children’s and even bathrooms. “Such an area of walls, mostly given over to painting, required a large number of art objects — paintings, graphics, sculptures,” says Marina. — And I am very glad that we managed to find interesting works. Customers were happy to get acquainted with the galleries, looking for “their” art objects, trying them on in the interior. As a result, the house came to life, works of different styles and different eras appeared here.” They helped to put a spectacular end to the work and filled the house with new life.
