Country house on the river bank for several generations of the family Design 20.04.2022 Designer Irina Shevchenko talks about the project of a house in the Moscow region, where modern solutions, industrial accents and folklore motifs are combined Photo Anton Likhtarovich General parameters: Property Type: House Where is located: Moscow region Square footage: 650 m2 Style: Scandinavian hugge and lagom, diluted with elements of industrial design The main idea of the project: a chalet with a Russian character Color scheme: shades of gray Contacts: designer Irina Shevchenko, T. +7 916 156 08 79 , [email protected] , @shevchirina Photo Anton Likhtarovich I created this project for people very close to me. They asked me to get involved at the stage of the construction of the walls of the second floor — by this point, due to insurmountable contradictions, they had to dismiss the team of architects who started the construction. We inherited a box with internal partitions and a large number of windows, an already approved layout that is not quite ergonomic, and a lot of engineering problems. I had to clear the space of unnecessary, air-stealing partitions, expand the openings and re-plan the basement. Dining area. The table is made to order. Chairs, armchairs, everything — LoftDesign. Photo Anton Likhtarovich The complex architecture was largely determined by the relief and location of the site located on the river bank. Building a house of this size requires very serious investments, and is often delayed for many years. It was decided to invest the bulk of the budget in technical equipment, and spend the remaining funds on finishing. This fit perfectly into the original idea. Customers dreamed of a country residence for recreation and socializing with friends. The house, according to their ideas, should be filled with light, air and natural tactile materials. Abandoned Tuscan farms, Alpine chalets and lofts in the Boho style were considered as references. Living room. Sofa, factory “March 8”. Tables, Artefacto. Decor, IKEA, Zara Home. Photo Anton Likhtarovich When the house was erected, I saw a very successful, proportionally correct combination of wood and concrete. We left most of the surfaces of the walls and ceilings without finishing. Kitchen, Caprigo. The kitchen island is made to order. Chairs, lamps, everything — Loft Design. Photo Anton Likhtarovich The layout is built around a two-light living-dining room space. All private spaces are located on the second floor, and guest rooms are located on the ground floor. On the basement level there is a gym and a full-fledged spa complex with a hammam, a relaxation room and a swimming pool. The dining area of the kitchen. The table is made to order. Photo Anton Likhtarovich On the ground floor, on an area of 125 m2, there is a living room, a dining room and a kitchen. The organization of open spaces of this scale requires careful study. In order for the space not to look monotonous, it had to be divided both horizontally and vertically into conditional zones, using various combinations of finishing materials. The master bedroom. Photo Anton Likhtarovich Some of the materials were replaced with historical ones. Panels for the guest bathroom were assembled from old barn boards and picket fence, and old window frames were used as frames for mirrors in the dining area. The customers supported my idea to decorate the floor in the living room with antique cast-iron plates. To add graphics, the fireplace was sheathed with sheets of black hot-rolled metal. The same material is used in the decoration of the floor and beams. Guest bedroom. Wallpaper, Factura Wallpaper. Bed, IKEA. Table, decor, everything — Zara Home. And they are never empty — they are very fond of and know how to meet guests and have fun in the best Russian traditions. We often joke that with such infrastructure, a small spa hotel could be located here. Guest bathroom on the ground floor. Grey plaster for walls, “Marat K”. Photo Anton Likhtarovich Shells, Caprigo. I wanted the pool to look like part of the exterior, but behind glass. On a hot summer day, it was supposed to completely open the openings between the columns, so the pool would be combined with the terrace. But the cost of reliable sliding windows, divided by the number of hot days in our strip, forced us to limit ourselves to a large swing door. Bathroom on the second floor. In order to achieve the desired shade, I had to carefully choose the color of the facing mosaic of the pool bowl and even more carefully — the color of the grout. Swimming pool in the spa area. Porcelain stoneware, Italon. Facade stone made of shungite slate. Photo Anton Likhtarovich Despite all the variety of textures and abundance of details, the interior seems very solid. We have a brutal Nordic villa, assembled inside from a patchwork of impressions and associations. The house seems impregnable from the outside, but inside it opens up its very Russian and slightly fabulously naive character. View from the spa to the terrace.
