A family with three children and one cat has long dreamed of building a house for themselves in the mountains near Sochi, in order to eventually move to it “for retirement”, and before that come on vacation. Moreover, you won’t have to get used to the neighbors either — close friends of the family from their native Nizhny Novgorod have already settled nearby. The author of the project, designer Zhanna Navolotskaya, also comes from there.

“The main idea of the project was the inextricable connection of the house with the forest, mountains and the boxwood reserve located nearby,” says designer Zhanna Navolotskaya. — Among other wishes of the customers were a kitchen island, wooden windows, natural stone and wood decoration in a rustic style.”

“The fireplace is used by the owners all the time. This year there was a lot of snow in the area and the electricity was cut off, the fireplace was heating the house until the problem was fixed.”

“On the second floor there are two bedrooms and a bathroom with a small utility room. It was important for us to provide a sufficient number of storage systems, drying racks and a washing machine with built-in dryer. The climate is humid, and everything dries slowly.”

“All the work took nine months. We started building in April, and the owners have already celebrated the New Year here. The only difficulty was that I ordered almost all the materials — the color of the walls, doors, floors and furniture — remotely, sitting in Nizhny Novgorod and communicating with Sochi suppliers only via the Internet. But, fortunately, everything worked out!”, — says Zhanna Navolotskaya.
