Dream House: visiting designer Kirsty Wiedermann Design 19.03.2022 Designer Kirsty Wiedermann bought her dream house in the suburbs of Melbourne and designed the interiors together with her daughter and best business partner Kimberly Photo Eva Wilson Interior designer Kirsty Wiedermann and her husband Frank bought their perfect house in September 2015. Perfect because it already had an excellent layout, a well-kept garden and an excellent location. But due to her profession, Kirsty simply could not leave everything as it is. Together with her daughter Kimberly, also a designer, Wiedermann, even before buying the house, sketched a room plan and a drawing of the exterior. “We knew right away that he was the one,” she says. Kirsty and Kimberly have kept most of the original layout, changing only the kitchen and bathrooms. At the same time, all samples of the existing terrazzo mosaic and brass faucets remained in place. They liked the monochrome palette of cool white and gray shades. One of the few bright objects in the house was a dark green cabinet with brass handles in the dining room. “He creates a playful atmosphere and brings freshness to the space,” says Kirsty. She and Frank bought, repaired and sold houses, and they lived on suitcases, moving from one rented apartment to another. This house became special for the Wiedermanns, because for the first time they designed it for themselves. “We chose the materials, finishes and items that we really liked.
