Eclectic apartment of 50 m2 with a summer mood all year round Design 14.02.2022 “Summer forever” – this idea was adhered to by Yulia Babintseva, decorating the interior of a small apartment in cloudy St. Petersburg. The combination of rich warm and cool light shades brought to the interior a feeling of freshness of the sea breeze and the heat of a summer evening Sofa, SK Design. Photo Ivan Sorokin. She travels a lot and therefore at home happens to be “hit-and-run”. The area of the apartment is small, only 50 sq. m. meters, and therefore designer Yulia Babintseva needed to create a “smart”, maximally thoughtful space in which every meter works. A separate place for sleeping, a place for reading and receiving guests should have been planned in it, as well as enough hidden places for storage. The hostess also asked to combine a bathroom and a dressing room from the developer and turn the common space into a laundry block with storage spaces. At the same time, it was extremely important not to clutter up the space and create a general feeling of lightness, “airiness” and harmony in the apartment. Style: Alexandra Vidakas-Tsoi Since the budget was very limited, only the most basic pieces of furniture and lighting were bought into the apartment, so the designer had to enliven the interior with the help of colors and textures. To create the effect of “freshness and frosty breeze”, wallpaper with a large graphic print and a gray-blue shade of the ceiling were used. And the fine white tiles combined with terracotta on the kitchen and hallway floors give the feeling of hot sand in a Mediterranean resort. Wallpaper, Respace. Mixer, Omoikiri. Photo Ivan Sorokin. The interior seems to be filled with fresh air and morning sunlight,” says the designer. Empty spaces (piers, shelves) are purposely left in each room so that the hostess of the house slowly fills them with her favorite things and objects on her own, giving the house its own unique, unlike anything else.
