Elegant and cozy: an apartment for a musician of the Bolshoi Theater Design 18.03.2022 Bright furniture and art objects stand out favorably against the background of a light classical base. In addition to the visual component, this apartment also attracts with a competent layout, the designers perfectly divided the space into common and private zones. Customer and tasks The owner of this spacious apartment in a Moscow residential complex is a musician, plays the violin and works at the Bolshoi Theater. He is single, interested in art, travel. The owner asked designers Anastasia Zabusova and Sofia Ashab to decorate the space in the style of modern classics and fill it with bright objects. He immediately warned that he had a lot of things and these were not only clothes, but also souvenirs, collectibles that he brought from trips. Therefore, one of the main tasks was the organization of roomy, but not cluttering storage systems. Layout According to the original plan, this apartment was without partitions. Following the location of the “wet” zones, the designers created a convenient layout. So, at the entrance, a spacious hall with a regular shape was allocated, from which a corridor leads to the kitchen and dressing room. From the kitchen you can get into the living room. The bedroom, study and bathroom are connected by a dressing room, it has become like a link between these zones. And together they represent a private block of the owner, through which you do not need to pass to be in the kitchen or in the living room. Also, the designers have allocated a laundry area with access from the corridor. Finishing Paint was chosen for wall decoration. Mostly light shades: pale beige for the living room, kitchen, hallway and dressing room and pastel blue for the bedroom. The exception was the office. It was decorated in dark tones, dominated by a deep blue-lilac color of the walls. This was done intentionally to create a more intimate space. Laminate flooring was chosen for the floor and laid everywhere except the hall. Here they used porcelain stoneware under marble with delicate edging, which creates the effect of a carpet. The bathroom is decorated with tiles. There is a gray-beige gloss on the walls, “marble” with gray veins on the floor. The interior of this zone turned out to be fresh and even gentle, relaxing, as intended. Moldings adorn the walls everywhere, which refers to the classic style of a fashionable and very popular technique in modern interiors. Furniture and storage systems As requested by the owner of the apartment, a lot of attention was paid to storage. Spacious wardrobes were made in the hallway and bedroom. There are also closed dimensional storage systems in the dressing room. A place for household items was provided in the laundry room. There are bookcases in the living room and study. Upholstered furniture mainly plays the role of accents. For example, the blue sofa in the living room stands out against the background of light walls and is combined with the muted purple color of the chair. Green upholstered chairs in the kitchen echo the picture in the dining area and attract attention in a bright room. In the bedroom, the mustard upholstery of the bed and the emerald at the armchair look no less impressive. In the study, the color of the sofa upholstery supported the chamber mood, the complex purple perfectly matches the shade of the walls. Lighting “Two types of lighting are combined in the apartment: the general overhead light is presented in the form of built-in lamps, local more chamber light,” the authors of the project say. Local light is solved differently depending on the zone. So, in the bedroom it is a table lamp on the table by the chair and suspensions on one side of the bed. In the kitchen there are hanging lamps over the dining table, and in the study there is a table lamp. In the living room, the overhead light was divided into zones, so it will be possible to play with lighting even without additional scenarios. In the bathroom, the mirror above the sink is locally illuminated. Decor “The decor is the brightest and most charismatic part of this interior. It is art that sets the mood. The interior itself is quite calm, even taking into account the bright pieces of furniture, and art makes it more daring and fresh. It calls for living brightly, enjoying every moment. With the exception of the study, everything in it is quite conservative in terms of decor, since this is the most meditative space at home,” the designers comment. Designers Anastasia Zabusova and Sofia Ashab, Terra Buro: The creation of the interior was inspired, first of all, by our customer — a creative personality, a musician of the Bolshoi Theater. During the discussion, we realized that the architecture of the space should be quite conservative, classical, and at the same time – light, light, airy. And the furniture was chosen more modern and certainly bright, so that it sets the mood and character. So is our hero — at work he is dressed in a white shirt “with a needle” and classic trousers, and outside of work he prefers bright colors. We have combined two sides of our client’s character in the interior. Living room Kitchen Kitchen Kitchen Corridor, view of the kitchen. On the left is the door to the laundry room.
