“Designing an apartment for yourself is a real challenge! And not only for the architect, but also for all members of his family, – says Irina Cherneykina. – Initially, it was difficult for me to focus on any particular style, I came up with concepts one by one. As soon as Gosha, my husband, had time to get used to one idea, I already came with a new one. He was just in shock. And so several times in a row! There was radical minimalism, travel style, and a variant in the style of my WowDom bureau projects, which eventually formed the basis of the concept.”

“I completely redesigned the layout from the developer in accordance with my ideas about the ideal apartment for myself. As a result, a kitchen-living room, a master bedroom, a master bathroom, a dressing room, a laundry room, a guest bathroom, an entrance hall and a pantry were located on 70 square meters.”

“The painting “Garden of Eden” Yakov Khomich in the style of primitivism attracts attention from the entrance. I bought it as soon as I saw it, although I didn’t know where I was going to hang it yet. I just realized that I needed her.”

“The kitchen in a small apartment was supposed to become part of the living room. So the idea of a “kitchen liner” was born. The background for it is a corner structure made of wooden panels, where on the one hand there are just panels, on the other hand there is a refrigerator, household appliances and a storage system. The same panels act as an apron.”

The accent in the kitchen has become a designer lamp from Flos, which is also visible from the bedroom, living room and hallway.

“To make the kitchen even less like a kitchen, I decided on a built-in extractor hood, which leaves only when necessary.”

“Part of the living room is given over to a library of my favorite books on architecture. Next to it on the wall is a clock that the Nomon brand made to order according to my sketches specifically for our apartment.”

“Everything turned out very cool in the bathroom! Here, each item lifts the mood and deserves special attention. But my favorites are the mirror hanger ladder from Zieta, similar to an inflatable balloon, and vertical profile lamps that create a special atmosphere.”

“Sliding doors are the best help for an architect when working with small spaces. I have them almost everywhere. But since we have a cat, the doors should always be open so that he can go to any place. At the same time, the places forbidden for the cat are hidden behind mirrored doors so that he does not understand that it is possible to go there.”
