“We are very lucky with the owners of this apartment! — says designer Varvara Zelenetskaya. — These are people with fine taste, sincere love for design, and most importantly — with a surprisingly sensitive and reverent attitude to history. At their request, we have preserved the old brickwork as much as possible, and to restore the lost fragments we used only old bricks — the same age as the house.”

“Apartments in old houses are a whole world full of surprises. You can always find something completely unpredictable. So we, having cleaned the walls to the brick, found gingerbread hidden in the brickwork!”

“We have restored the suite, which unites all the rooms and emphasizes the classic solution of the space. At the same time, we managed to coordinate the arched passage to the kitchen, made in the load-bearing wall, and the unification of the kitchen-dining room.”

“Two windows in the kitchen were combined with a wooden countertop to get a large work surface. An island was placed in the center, thereby realizing the desire of customers to have a space for culinary evenings and meetings with friends. We also managed to place spacious cabinets here, which is never superfluous in the kitchen.”

“Our special pride is the architectural solution of all window portals. We singled them out from floor to ceiling with a single color and a common trim, and we chose bleached oak for the window sills.”

“The bathroom was placed in a room with a window. This is a real luxury for the center of Moscow! We have thought out the layout in such a way that there is not only a bathtub, but also a shower room. The atmosphere of the interior with history is created by tiles — they are modern, but very similar to those samples that are still found in Moscow and St. Petersburg apartments of the early twentieth century.”

“A trace of history! In the interior of the office, this figurative expression has acquired a literal meaning. At the request of the owners, we left traces of pipes found after dismantling the plaster on the walls. Such details reflect the history of the house and the connection of generations better than any words.”
