Designer Angelina Askeri completely transformed the apartment in just four months, using spectacular decorative techniques

The customer, with whom Angelina Askeri has done more than one major project, asked the designer to design a small apartment for her daughter — quickly, fashionably, on a budget.

The walk-through living room is connected by open portals to the hallway and kitchen. Table, Bernhardt. Chandelier, Arteriors Home. Curtains, Kelly Wearstler. Pillows, Hermès. “I was faced with the task of updating the interior without changing the layout, floors and even the bathroom,” says Angelina. — The apartment with an area of 55 square meters is located in an old house on Leninsky Prospekt, the last renovation was done 15 years ago. At the same time, a plank floor was laid, which has now been cycled and tinted into a lighter shade. And since natural stone is what makes any interior visually more expensive, I replaced the floor covering with marble in the hallway, bathroom and kitchen.

In order to save money, I designed the mosaic pattern on the basis of 30×30 cm tiles, since it is more expensive to cut slabs. But the box for the bath was made from a solid slab — it’s more solid. The same effect is created by luxurious American chandeliers. Hanging lamps have their own role — they form active verticals, stretch the space and visually raise the ceiling height. And finally, the main “touch” of the living room interior is curtains with a bright geometric ornament that breaks the space, distracts from the architectural shortcomings of the room and at the same time is not too colorful.”

The designer deliberately abandoned the ceiling cornices. The border of the walls and ceilings, painted in colors similar in tone, is almost erased, so that the room again seems higher. Additionally, huge mirrors increased the area of the apartment, and the shimmering glare of brass parts and sconces hanging over the sofa in the shape of the sun allowed the interior to add shine.

In order not to violate the integrity of the interior, all storage systems are built in, and the bedroom door opening into the living room is made according to the principle of “invisibility” — with secret fasteners, without platbands and with a smooth door leaf painted to match the wall.

Birds hovering at the head of the bed give a sense of flight and perspective

“As for the overall color scheme, I would call it gentle, girly,” the designer continues. — Transparent details and light shine refer to the style of modern American interiors, but in general, this project is a smart mix of iconic furniture objects and items from Russian factories. But practicality does not exclude romance! It was not by chance that birds appeared in the bedroom.
