Thanks to the redevelopment in a studio apartment, it was possible to organize a separate bedroom and a walk-through living room. The interior is built on a combination of calm beige tones and bright accents.

Customer and tasks 

The owner of an apartment in the Moscow region is a 63-year-old female lawyer. She turned to designer Elena Mukhacheva with a request to make a more convenient layout and design a comfortable interior. There were no stylistic wishes, as such, the hostess trusted Elena and was open to her suggestions.

Redevelopment

According to the original plan, the apartment had an elongated room, a small kitchen with a balcony, two bathrooms and a large corridor of irregular shape. The room lacked natural light and it was necessary to use the area of the corridor with benefit. Therefore, the designer proposed a redevelopment.

The room was expanded to the area of the corridor, giving the room the correct shape, and divided it into two parts. A bedroom was organized in the area closer to the window. On the remaining area of the living room. Instead of a small bathroom, they made a dressing room. The window block between the balcony and the kitchen was also removed, but, if desired, it can be restored (for official approval, it is necessary approx. editorial offices). Thus, from a one-bedroom it turned out to actually make a two-bedroom living room turned out to be a walk-through, but a full-fledged recreation area. 

Finishing

For wall decoration, paint of different shades was chosen, in the bedroom the interior was diluted with wallpaper with a pattern. On the floor in the room there is an engineering board laid with an elegant “herringbone”. In wet areas, on the balcony and in the hallway, tiles were used for finishing the floor. 

The color scheme of the interior is based on a combination of neutral shades, pastel tones and bright accents. The main color of the hallway and living room is light beige. In the bedroom, it is diluted with blue on the wallpaper and in the form of edging on the walls.

In the kitchen, beige is also diluted with blue in this shade, the window opening to the balcony, part of the wall next to the kitchen set is painted. The upper cabinets and the grout on the kitchen apron are decorated to match her. In the bathroom, peach-pink paint was used in combination with marble tiles on the walls and graphic black-and-white tiles on the floor. 

Interior doors and doorways, as well as baseboards, are also decorated in blue. Speaking of openings. In the living room-bedroom, transoms were made, through which more natural light penetrates from a single window. Elena shared an interesting way of designing transoms: “Since the budget for the door did not allow ordering transoms in production, we decided to make them a constructive part of the wall by inserting glass, framing with impact-resistant baseboards painted in the color of the door.” 

Bright accents are dotted. For example, in the beige living room there is a blue sofa. On the balcony there is an emerald wall under the window. The bedroom has a turquoise bed. 

Storage systems

Due to the fact that a separate dressing room was allocated in the apartment, there was no need for closets in the rooms. The wardrobe was placed in the corridor between the living room and the bathroom, on the balcony at the kitchen, a storage system was made in the bathroom, where the washing machine also stood, a system was installed from the console and the mezzanine at the entrance to the apartment.

In the bedroom, instead of a bedside table, a chest of drawers was put, a small rack with open shelves was made opposite the bed, it successfully fit into the niche that “remained” from the developer. 

Lighting

“Many lighting scenarios have been implemented: main light, zoned decorative lighting and night illumination,” comments the author of the project. For example, a chandelier became the main light in the living room, a decorative sconce on the wall above the sofa, and night lighting is mounted in a relief wall decor, following the example of a room. In the bedroom, spotlights are built into the ceiling, additional suspensions are made by the bed, in the kitchen there is a ceiling chandelier and sconces above the work surface, in the hallway there are ceiling suspensions and cabinet lighting.

This apartment in the spirit of the Soviet intelligentsia with classical elements and bright accents was created for a respected woman. One of the main advantages was the redevelopment. The extremely unsuccessful layout from the developer was changed, turning a banal one-bedroom apartment into an apartment with an isolated bedroom, a walk-through living room, a separate wardrobe and a practical hallway. The warm color scheme with accents in blue and turquoise shades creates an atmosphere of comfort and harmony. In general, with a small budget, we managed to create an interesting and stylish interior with a unique atmosphere and charm.
