Designer Anastasia Zarqua likes to use saturated shades in her projects. And the owners of this apartment wanted exactly that. 

Customers and tasks 

The owners of this three-room apartment in St. Petersburg are a young married couple with a cat. They are fond of plants, collect legos, and lead a healthy lifestyle. The main wish was to design a comfortable apartment with a spacious working area of the kitchen (the owner likes to cook) and a large number of storage places. For this, they turned to the designer Anastasia Zarqua. 

Layout

On a large area (almost 92 sq. m.), the developer has provided a kitchen-living room, two rooms, two bathrooms and a place for a dressing room. The layout suited the owners. The designer only allocated an additional dressing room for the bedroom, and the other areas remained in their places. A nursery was planned in the back room. For now, for the future.

Finish and color 

Paint was chosen for wall decoration. In the hallway-corridor, the main part is painted in a neutral tone, and the entrance area is highlighted with a rich green shade.

In the kitchen-living room, the walls are also neutral, accents are placed with the help of furniture and a sofa, and the wall opposite the kitchen is painted green. She became a great background for paintings. A gray-blue color is chosen for the bedroom. The bathrooms turned out to be the most saturated. The bathroom has yellow tiles on the walls.

The bathroom has terrazzo tiles and terracotta paint. 

“I love bright bathrooms, it helps to wake up faster when you enter such a room, but it does not bother your eyes, since we are not there all the time (it would be harder to live in the living room or bedroom with such a color),” the designer comments. 

The flooring in the hallway, kitchen-living room, as well as in the guest bathroom is porcelain stoneware. On the loggia adjacent to the kitchen, quartz vinyl. For the bathroom, we chose a tile with a neutral geometric pattern in gray and white colors, which sets off the bright walls. There is an engineering board for the bedroom floor.

Furniture and storage systems

The apartment has two walk-in closets. One with access from the corridor. Seasonal clothes and household items like a vacuum cleaner and a mop are stored there. In the dressing room at the bedroom, the owners’ casual clothes. In the hallway there is a built-in IKEA wardrobe, the facades of which are painted in the color of the walls. The kitchen set is also a Swedish brand. But the upper wooden facades were made to order. And it was possible to embed the furniture by calculating the size of the niche in advance. 

The interior partially used vintage restored furniture. In particular, bedside tables in the bedroom, a TV stand and dining chairs. The new one was chosen so that it fits perfectly with this light mood of mid-century Art Nouveau. 

Lighting

The main lighting is solved by track lights and built-in points. In the bedroom, instead of them, there is a flat ceiling lamp. Additional scenarios create an atmosphere. This is a suspension over the dining table in the kitchen-living room, bedside sconces in the bedroom and a suspension over the dressing table in the same place, a suspension next to the mirror in the bathroom and a mirror illumination in the bathroom. In the hallway, they were limited only to the general light.

The owners initially wanted a bright apartment, and since I have a lot of projects done in this style, there were no difficulties. I have already worked out color combinations that produce a wow effect and do not get bored with time, but cheer up. I like, for example, to make an entrance hall or a corridor in a bright color, it creates a strong impression when you enter the apartment for the first time, and does not bother, because you are not there all the time. In the main rooms, calmer colors are chosen so that the eye can rest, but at the same time there are accent elements that do not make the interior monotonous. As for the style, the owners like my style of Scandinavian interior design (I like to do not blue-gray scandi, but with bright colors), so the choice of style was obvious.
