Just not beige: a bright apartment of 94 sq. m. m for a family that doesn’t like templates Design 15.07.2022 The owners of this apartment did not want to use neutral beige in the interior. Designers Yulia Denskevich and Yulia Ermakova embodied this wish by using bold shades. The result is amazing! Customers and tasks This apartment in one of the modern residential complexes of St. Petersburg belongs to a young family with a child. The hostess is the head of a travel agency. All family members are big fans of travel. And this left its mark on the interior. “The customer came with specific references, from which our eyes lit up. We were given a full carte blanche, and we love and know how to work with color. Her favorites ultramarine and turquoise (she adores the culture of the East) were actively integrated into the interior of the kitchen-living room and hall, we enriched this combination with shades of saffron and delicate mint,” say designers Yulia Denskevich and Yulia Ermakova, creators of the Yucubedesign studio. Layout The layout from the developer, according to which the apartment had three isolated rooms, a kitchen-living room and two bathrooms, suited the owners. They did not want to change it and set the task to make a comfortable and functional interior with the original data. The designers have accepted this. The only change affected the far room from the entrance, which was taken under the master bedroom. There was a separate dressing room. The nursery was made on the other side of the apartment, away from the parents’ bedroom and the kitchen-living room. Next to the bedroom, a second nursery was planned for the future. Finishing Finishing materials were chosen in accordance with the concept of the interior. Paint is mainly used for the walls. Accents are placed using wallpaper and wall panels in separate areas. So, the wall of the nursery is decorated with wallpaper with a pattern of tropical plants, birds and monkeys. On the balcony at the children’s room, this theme is continued in the form of a mural with the image of a parrot, which is made according to the sketches of designers. Wallpaper with a geometric pattern was used in the hallway. The lower part of the wall was decorated with panels in the Boiserie style, which is not only beautiful, but also practical. In the living room, the wall by the window, where there is a sofa, was also highlighted with panels. In the bathroom, part of the wall is tiled, and the wallpaper serves as an accent element. In the bathroom, they also used a technique with partial tile finishing, they laid out only the shower and the sink area. On the floor in the rooms and the kitchen-living room there is a parquet board laid according to the “French herringbone” scheme. In the hall, bathroom and bathroom, practical floor granite is used. Furniture and storage systems The development of storage systems was an important task. So, in the hallway there is a large wardrobe and a chest of drawers for small things. The master bedroom has a separate dressing room and bookcases. The nursery has a roomy storage system for clothes and toys, as well as drawers in the bed. The kitchen has a corner kitchen set with built-in appliances and cabinets to the ceiling. In the living room, they limited themselves to a small pedestal opposite the sofa for storing small things. There are lockers for hygiene supplies in the bathroom and bathroom. The designers made most of the furniture to order. Not only the cabinet. So, for example, the bed in the nursery is also an individual production, an interpretation on the theme of a classic bed with a canopy. The bed in the master bedroom is another unique thing, with an author’s drawing on the upholstery of the headboard. Lighting Spot and track lamps are “responsible” for the general light, but the main decorative role is assigned to chandeliers and pendant lamps. So, an accent lamp with colored glass shades is placed above the half-bar table. In the bedroom there are two suspensions on the sides of the bed made of macrame, in the nursery there is a central ceiling lamp in the same style. The hallway is decorated with a chandelier made of glass and brass. Additional scenarios are implemented zonally: sconces at the mirror and above the entrance door in the hallway, above the dressing table in the bedroom. Colour The main color of the walls in all areas is quite neutral, light with a cold pallet. But the accent elements of the turquoise door portal and boiserie panels in the living room, a saffron-hued sofa, blue wall panels and an entrance door in the hallway, blue color accents in textiles and a coral bed in the nursery create the impression of a colorful interior, original and bright. Yulia Denskevich and Yulia Ermakova are the creators and leading designers of the Yucubedesign studio: The decor and textiles were selected based on the color scheme of the interior. In the bedroom there is an incredible linen set of bed linen in a natural shade, supplemented with a lavender plaid and pillows of mustard and mint shades. For the curtains, we took blackout fabric in two shades. A Roman curtain of a warm white shade with blue edging appeared behind the saffron sofa in the kitchen-living room, and a pouf with an animal print in a beautiful turquoise color was placed in front of the sofa. In the children’s room, mint velvet curtains and decorative pillows with ethnic prints were preferred, which added atmosphere to the entire interior.
