Like designers: 5 furniture “walls” in the living room from the projects of the pros

We deliberately put the word “walls” in quotation marks, because these are no longer the bulky structures of cabinets, shelves, sideboards and shelving. Today they look different, although they perform the same functions. Which “walls” do designers choose?

1 plywood cabinet that occupies the walls in two rooms

To be more precise, in the living room and the entrance hall. This solution was implemented by designer Anna Shimanova in this apartment in a panel house. The design could be cumbersome with such volumes, but no, it looks quite light and even elegant. Largely due to the fact that it occupies a short wall in the living room without cluttering up the space. And also thanks to the combination of open, closed shelves and a free section-a niche in which the piano is located. On the shelf behind the lattice facade is an internal air conditioner unit. Take note of this decorating idea.

2 Modular design with hanging cabinets

The apartment, designed by designer Olga Egupova, has a modular variation of the “wall”, which consists of hanging cabinets with glass facades, a mezzanine section under the ceiling and a TV stand. The design looks light due to the fact that it is mainly made in white, which is combined with light walls. But at the same time it attracts attention and this is due to the blue accents. The blue color, in general, is the main contrast of this living room.

3 A system of built-in cabinets on two walls

In the apartment designed by designer Anna Maltseva, the living room was also planned as a guest room. The hosts love and plan to receive guests. At the same time, the task was also to arrange a spacious storage system in the living room for both guest and host items (in particular, equipment for hunting and fishing). Anna solved this problem masterfully along the entire wall opposite the sofa, as well as cabinets placed next to the door. Opposite the sofa with a niche for the TV. The second part is monolithic. The cabinets are built into the wall and look less bulky due to this, but also thanks to the mirrors on the doors. Mirror surfaces, as is known, visually expand the space.

4 Elegant “wall” opposite the sofa

In an apartment for an adult married couple designed by Nadia Kiselnikova, it was important to place many storage systems. However, this is a popular request in today’s interiors, I want all things to have their place without creating a visual mess.

So, one of these systems was the “wall” in the living area. The furniture design really takes up the entire wall. It consists of open and closed shelves, as well as a niche for the TV. The combination of wood texture and white color is a win-win option, which, of course, fits perfectly into this interior with a hint of modern classics. Books and decor can be stored on open shelves. In closed lockers, anything from seasonal items to dishes, spare bed linen and other home textiles.
