Designers Elena and Denis Matveev designed the interior of a small apartment for an active family, which reflects the unity of the city and nature

The owners of this apartment in a new building in St. Petersburg have their own business, they are engaged in fish and seafood trade. This is a friendly family that travels a lot, leads an active lifestyle and does sports. Therefore, they needed an original, not boring interior, in which there would be harmony between nature and the city.

“The project was completed in one breath in one year,” designers Elena and Denis Matveev say. — We have a complete understanding with our clients. They are people with a great sense of humor, so all the stages were accompanied by positive and good mood. They trusted us, and we tried not to let them down.”

The redevelopment made it possible to make the space more functional and maximize the use of the small area of the apartment (62.7 sq. m.). The designers enlarged the dressing room, extended the wall, built in showcases for storing books and accessories in the living room, hid the depth of the closet in the bedroom and installed a roto door between the bedroom and the kitchen-living room, which in an open form takes up space in the room. In addition, Elena and Denis correctly positioned the massive columns of the kitchen and placed the washing machine and dryer in the bathroom, hiding them behind the facades of cabinets.

The source of inspiration for the designers was the view from the window: the sky, the river, beautiful sunsets – all this gives a feeling of freedom. Therefore, the interior palette is based on calm neutral shades. Contrasting black and dark details look especially impressive against the background of gray-beige shades.

Special attention is paid to lighting in the apartment. There is both technical, basic light, and decorative. An elegant chandelier at the dining table, suspensions over the kitchen island, lighting of showcases and windows – different types of lighting allow you to create different lighting scenarios for different times of day and mood.

In the interior, the designers managed to maintain a harmonious balance between beauty and functionality. There was a place for thoughtful storage systems, bookshelves, and coffee tables with beautifully arranged decor items. The main room is divided into two zones: a living room with a soft sofa and an armchair and a dining room with a folding table and an accent wall covered with beige wallpaper with a shiny silver pattern.

“The main center of attraction of the apartment is the kitchen. The owners love to cook, so it was important to make it as modern, ergonomic and functional as possible, as well as equip enough storage spaces, — say the authors of the project. — We have arranged the working area so that, while cooking, the owners could admire the view from the window and their favorite city. Roomy cabinets with built-in appliances were placed against the wall, and a large kitchen island was supplemented with a bar counter with bar stools — if necessary, guests can be accommodated behind it. In addition, we managed to convince customers not to use classic hinged cabinets. As a result, there are even more storage spaces than if we had used them.”

The bedroom turned out to be small, but cozy. The wall behind the headboard is decorated with blue wallpaper with silver decor, which gives the room depth and creates the illusion of movement. The pattern on the wallpaper resembles the wind blowing from the Neva River, and helps to create the unity of the interior and nature outside. The blue color is complemented by light beige and pink shades, so that the bedroom does not look gloomy, but, on the contrary, evokes warm, romantic feelings.

It was possible to put a shower cabin in the bathroom and free up a storage space on top, where a full-fledged wardrobe could fit. The washing machine and dryer are hidden from view behind the facades. The calm dark tones of the tiles help to focus attention on a beautiful bedside table and a decorative table.
