Perfect Scandinavian minimalism in a Moscow apartment Design 21.04.2022 The designer embodied a Scandinavian “dream” in a spacious apartment: neutral colors, natural materials, a minimum of furniture and spectacular details. Customers and tasks The owners of this apartment in a Moscow residential complex are a young family with a young son. Spouses are active and enthusiastic people. He is interested in cycling and surfing. She likes jazz and traveling. The couple’s professions are also different. The owner is a director of editing, and the hostess is a lawyer. The couple turned to interior designer Vladimir Karpenko for interior design. Layout The developer rented the apartment “in concrete”. Partitions separated one room, one of the bathrooms, and there was a load-bearing pylon in the room. According to the plan from the developer, three rooms, two bathrooms, a separate kitchen were provided here. The designer slightly changed the layout, adjusting it to the needs of the owners. The kitchen and living room were made common. A dressing room was allocated in the hallway, combining it with the function of a laundry room. The nursery was slightly reduced by moving the partition between it and the living room. The parents’ bedroom, on the contrary, was enlarged due to the corridor in order to fit a roomy storage system. The entrance to the second bathroom was “turned” into the bedroom to make a private bathroom. Finishing Decorative plaster of gray color was chosen for wall decoration in all living rooms, kitchen and hallway. According to Vladimir, at first they made a choice in favor of matte paint, but after they decided that it was not quite suitable for quality and stability, decorative plaster is more practical and will not suffer from minor scratches and other damage. On the floor in the rooms and even in the kitchen area there is an engineering board made of oak, laid with a herringbone. This method of laying is more typical for classical interiors, but it is often used in Scandinavian design. It adds a traditional atmosphere to the space. In wet areas and the hallway, large-format light-colored porcelain stoneware was used. Where to look for announcements of materials and fresh ideas for the interior? Subscribe to our channels!
