1 Niche for small household appliances

An interesting technique was implemented by designer Maryam Razuvaeva in the interior of this Eurodome in Kazan. The kitchen set here is compact, built in one line. But the countertop is not cluttered with small household appliances (coffee machine and kettle), because they are hidden in a niche! This was created due to the space near the ventilation shaft. Instead of sewing up this niche, it was put to good use.

2 Folding ironing board behind a Roman curtain

In a small apartment designed by Ekaterina Bubnova, every centimeter counts, because it was necessary to allocate a place for mom’s bedroom and a separate room for her son. Therefore, most of the free space is involved, including the walls. For example, in the corridor leading to the kitchen, a folding ironing board is installed on the wall, hidden behind a Roman curtain in order not to create visual noise.

3 Typical cabinets that look like custom-made

In fact, it is a popular technique that can be noticed in more than one design project. In this interior designed by Anna Shimanova, for example, there are two such cabinets in the hallway and the nursery. Both systems are from IKEA, but due to the fact that niches were built for the right size at the repair stage, they are perfectly integrated and look as if they were made to order. This will save on storage systems, so it’s worth taking a note.

4 Cabinet behind the curtain

One of the simplest methods of zoning space with textiles. Curtains can be used not only on windows, but also to separate one zone from another. This solution was applied by designer Margarita Posukhova in this two-room apartment for a young married couple. The owners needed a workspace that could be isolated if necessary. The countertop and storage shelves were placed along the wall in the living room and separated this area with curtains with tulle.
