“The apartment was bought by the customer for an investment purpose: for rent,” says designer Anna Maltseva. — This is the second project we are working on together, so I know the client’s preferences well. This time she came to me with a minimum of requirements that concerned only the functionality of each zone. She completely entrusted me with the choice of stylistics, so this interior, we can say, is a reflection of me as a designer.”

Initially, there were no walls in the room at all, so the only thing that could limit the designer’s imagination were communications. The combined kitchen-dining-living area was located on the right side of the apartment. The walls here are made so that they have niches for storage systems, which are located both from the kitchen and the hallway. Thanks to the spacious dressing room in the entrance area, it was possible to free up space in the living rooms: a minimum of cabinets were installed in the rooms. The entrance to the bathroom is organized so that the hallway has its own “dirty” area. In general, the layout turned out to be complicated and “tortuous”, but it seems as if all the rooms in the apartment have the right shape.

“Although I had complete freedom of action, the customer outlined a very specific budget for implementation,” says Anna. — It was important to make the space commercially attractive in order to subsequently set a decent price for rent, but at the same time choose materials from the economy segment. I took my favorite color scheme as a basis: beige, white, black, wood. A monochrome space with black accents always looks spectacular and expensive, even if the furniture or finishing materials are quite budget-friendly.”

“We focused on large shapes, tried not to get too small. The rooms in the apartment are quite spacious, it was necessary to organize a clear zoning. The glass partition in the kitchen area is what I convinced the customer to spend money on. She really wanted a kitchen in a niche, but at the same time open. The partition designates a clear zoning, forms an opening and lets light onto the work surface. With a black profile, I added graphicity to the space,” says the designer.

Decorative panels on the wall behind the dining table made it possible to zone the space and decorate a large wall so that it does not look empty. These panels are ordinary sheets of drywall painted in the color of the wall: a budget solution that looks spectacular thanks to the shadow pattern and rhythm. In addition, there are already paintings hanging in the sofa area, so another picture on the wall at the table would make the space heavier and make it too boring and monotonous.

“In the bedroom, we adhered to the general idea of the project: to think in large forms and not to be small,” the designer continues. — That’s why we installed a single large structure along the wall with a workplace and a TV. The part of the wall to the left of the bed is painted in a darker color. Inside this corner we placed a mirror, the frame of which we ourselves repainted in the color of the walls, and a small black table. The color of the walls in this area seems to unite all the elements and sets the correct geometry of the room.”

The bathroom is decorated in neutral light colors. Wood veneer on the facades of cabinets and on the cabinet under the sink adds comfort to the space, and white-beige finish is associated with cleanliness and relaxation, which is so important for the bathroom.

“I am proud that I managed to design a spectacular, functional, well-thought-out space, and at the same time meet the budget. In addition, for this project I painted my first interior paintings myself, — says Anna Maltseva. — My ultimate goal in working on any space is to visit the customer, and this is possible only if the entire implementation process has been completed together, hand in hand, with support and full trust. As it turned out this time.”
