The office of the UWC company, which provides warehouse rental services, is located in a building of the mid-20th century. Initially, it was a series of separate offices with white walls and computer desks. The main task of architect Sergey Kolchin and designer Daria Vasilkova was to create a single comfortable modern space in which employees could quickly exchange ideas, negotiate over a cup of coffee, while not interfering with the work of colleagues.

The office occupies two floors. On the first floor there is a reception and a manager’s office. To avoid associations with Soviet factories, the architect covered the ceiling with a complex triangular structure, which refers to the halls of the Louis Kahn Museum at Yale University. For the effective work of the company, it is important that the management and the team communicate with each other. Therefore, the director’s office is located in such a way that on the way to his workplace he intersects with employees.

The second floor occupies a central space sandwiched between two “meeting rooms” and a common room for work. The tables are complemented by acoustic panels and large felt lamps, which help to minimize the noise from the keyboard and mouse clicks. The rhythm in the interior is set by rows of shelves for documents and black inserts on the facades of cabinets. From above, above the cabinets, round ventilation nozzles are visible, which have become an unusual element of decor.

The team did not completely get rid of the Soviet heritage of the building. For example, in the central space, the concrete ceiling was left open, showing the edges of the floor slabs. The “character” of the office can also be traced in the furnishings. Rounded shapes of furniture, bright panels, geometric prints on carpets and pillows refer to the aesthetics of the 1960s.
