The designer built a house of 9 m2 — this is how it looks

The house, built by designer Robin Falck, stands in a forest near the Finnish town of Sipoo in the province of Uusimaa and has an area of only nine square meters. The unusual project was named Nido (“bird’s nest” in Italian) and really resembles a cozy nest. Such a small size is actually quite justified: according to Finnish laws, you do not need to obtain a special construction permit if the construction area is less than 11.9 square meters. meters. So in order to avoid paper procedures, the designer had to sacrifice the area and try to fit everything necessary under the roof of the hut. The project budget was $10,500.

“I defined the perimeter of the building and just tried not to go beyond it,” says the author of the project, “On the ground floor I have a living room with a micro-kitchen, and on the second floor there is an attic for sleeping and a small storage system.” At the house, one of the walls is made at an angle. There is a large window on it that illuminates both levels of the house. Due to the large angle of inclination, natural light enters the room. The designer thoroughly thought out not only every square centimeter of the house, but also made a cozy recreation area on a wooden flooring nearby. On two air mattresses, you can endlessly admire nature and listen to the singing of birds.
