Spacious and functional interior with space for work and creativity — this is how the heads of the VAE design & architecture studio Evgeny Varkovich and Lana Leto saw their future home. “There are no standard solutions, low ceilings and open storage systems that accumulate dust,” says the couple. “We wanted to find a balance between practicality and aesthetics, to create a minimalistic interior, while not devoid of warmth.”

“Since we are adherents of the architectural approach in our work, we have made many interior details part of the overall composition. We used natural tones and correct geometry. Most of the furnishings and decor were designed specifically for the project, including a “floating” staircase with glass railings.”

Stylistically, the kitchen-living room is solved on the contrast of textures. The facades of the lower bases under the work surface are painted in anthracite, on the left the entire wall is finished with veneer. The apron and work surfaces are made of porcelain stoneware, which allows you not to be afraid of temperature changes or mechanical damage.

“We have been working on a kitchen island for a long time. It serves as the center of the composition, is both a bar, a dining area and a storage area. It was designed by one of the famous decorators of Belarus, he also worked on the exhaust system. The color scheme of the kitchen island and the hoods echo each other, the legs of the chairs and the kitchen sink, which was also matched in tone.”

“For the bedroom, we have developed a comfortable headboard that contains everything you need for a quality rest: bedside lamps, several sockets located on both sides of the bed, and a mini table on top to accommodate, for example, an air humidifier, and shelves for storing books. A curtain appeared behind the headboard, hiding a spacious dressing room. It is so convenient that we have decided now to design any new bed only in this way!”

“The eldest daughter’s nursery has everything for a fun and comfortable pastime: a sleeping place on the second level, a children’s “house”, and a play area designed according to the Montessori system. The entire space is maximally involved, and even the staircase serves as a cabinet-rack at the same time. There is a place for a desktop nearby, and we have placed a huge mirror and a magnetic marker board on the free wall.”
