Townhouse with a country mood in Rostov-on-Don

Architect Ekaterina Shubina turned urban housing into a cozy oasis, combining natural shades and materials in the interior of the townhouse

“The customers purchased the townhouse due to its convenient location near the city center. Nevertheless, the shortcomings of the construction were obvious, and the first step was to correct the planning decisions. At first, work was carried out to deepen the basement to accommodate a cinema and a wine library there. On the ground floor, window openings were opened, combining the floor space with a patio with a swimming pool and a barbecue area in the courtyard, letting nature into modern urban housing,” says architect Ekaterina Shubina.

“We also made a new staircase, which is supported by a metal column with a conceptual fence that gives the interior a graphic appearance. On the second floor there are private rooms: a master bedroom with a dressing room and a spectacular bathroom, a guest room, an office and a second bathroom.”

“To finish the walls of the living room, we used a combination of porcelain stoneware and wall panels that turn into built-in furniture. Minimal decorative solutions give the multifunctional space of the first floor the necessary unity and rigor. At the same time, the chosen golden-brown color scheme brings the necessary warmth to the interior. The natural tones of the materials emphasize the connection with nature, which is especially important for housing in the city.”
