Lena Lenskikh studio designers have created a modern interior using vintage furniture preserved by the owners

This apartment was inherited by the owners. They were very realistic about the number of square meters and did not try to accommodate everything that was possible. The usual set of functionality for a still small family. Apartments in houses of the 1950s-60s, as a rule, have a good layout, so in addition to combining the kitchen and living room, no alterations were required. Since the family has children only in the plans, the third room has become an office, which will later turn into a nursery.

The kitchen is made according to the sketches of designers, Jila. The apron is decorated with Marvel Diamonds Bianco, Atlas Concorde tiles. Mayfair lamp, Vibia. Windows, “Atmosphere 9”.

The designers wanted to leave more air and light, so double swing doors lead to all rooms. The passages from the living room to the kitchen and bedroom are made on the same axis, which makes the apartment even brighter and visually increases the area of each of these rooms. Most of the furniture and all the mirrors are made according to the sketches of the bureau at its own carpentry and mirror production. A compact table and built-in shelving do not clutter the office, and in order to free up the bedroom, we managed to allocate space for a dressing room nearby.

The neutral color of the walls and smooth veneered surfaces of furniture and doors serve as a background for accent finishing elements. The optical ornaments of the panels above the headboard of the bed, the upholstery of the armchairs in the living room, the curtains in the study and the tiles with which the kitchen apron is decorated echo each other, uniting different rooms with a common style. The simple square tiles used to decorate the bathroom and the kitchen floor are reminiscent of the aesthetics of the 1980s. Vintage lamps and furniture, some of which have been preserved in the apartment since the late 1960s, give the interior an authentic look.

By the way, in the new apartment, the designers had to provide winning places for the placement of paintings belonging to the owners. In the living room, the eye stops at the work of the “Fact” artist Yuri Herman. The author turns to one of the most complex plots of the New Testament history — the “Last Supper”. He shows it in the form of a minimalistic still life, built on associations. The captured emptiness keeps the viewer in suspense, the participants of the last meal seem to have left the space in a hurry, or they will appear in it very soon. Life breaks into the monochrome scale of the canvas with only a few details — smooth squares of folds on the tablecloth. The only object on the table is a walnut — a symbol of hidden wisdom, because in order to reach the core, it needs to be split.
