1 Ficus elastic

Ficus elastica (or rubber-bearing) is a rather unpretentious plant that will suit even beginners who have decided to green the apartment. This variety grows well near the window or at a distance of 3-4 meters from it in a room facing south. Watering the plant needs once a week and less often when the soil in the pot is completely dry. If you want to accelerate growth, from mid-spring to the end of summer, fertilizers can be applied simultaneously with watering. In this case, once a year you will need to transplant into pots 15-20% more in volume.

How to fit into the interior

A small ficus can be placed on a chest of drawers or a desk next to a laconic decor like a mirror of the same size or a stack of books. Choose a minimalistic planter: for example, matte white or with the effect of concrete. When the ficus reaches a height of a meter or more, it can be moved to the floor by placing it near a sofa or armchair. 

2 Monsters

A beautiful and unpretentious monstera needs sunlight, so do not remove it far from the window, especially if it has entirely green leaves. If you have chosen a variety with light veins, you can safely place the flower in the back of the room, but do not block the natural light with large furniture. Watering is carried out as the soil dries out: in summer once every 4-5 days, in winter once every 6-8 days.

Monstera, especially with carved large leaves, is well suited to create an accent in a minimalistic space. However, even if the plant takes root well, it produces only up to 2-3 new leaves per year. Therefore, if you want to fill an empty corner in a room with one flower or create a large green accent, it is better to immediately take an adult tall plant. 

3 Ficus Bengali

Another spectacular and large plant suitable for beginners for an interior in the style of minimalism is the Bengal ficus. It grows by 50-70 cm a year, requires only regular watering and fertilization once a month in summer. Do not place the pot next to the central heating battery, the leaves may begin to fall off. 

How to fit into the interior

The Bengal ficus has a long bare trunk and a fluffy green crown with large leaves. Therefore, it makes sense to put it in the back of the room so that at the entrance it is the foliage that catches the eye. Since the plant stretches in height, it will complement the horizontal lines well: a sofa, a chest of drawers, a row of posters on the wall.

4 Strelitzia

Strelitzia is considered to be a complex and capricious flower, although in order for it to take root, it is enough to find a well-lit place and not waterlog the soil. This spectacular plant feels best at a distance of 1-1.5 m from the window, so keep this in mind when choosing where to put the planters. It’s very easy to understand that it’s time to water strelitzia: she drops one or two of her leaves down. If this happens, place the planters in a basin with water so that the soil absorbs the right amount of water. Allow excess moisture to drain and return the flower to its place. After an hour, all the leaves will return to their previous state.

How to fit into the interior

A large strelitz can be placed on the floor, for example, next to a desk or sofa. A smaller one should be placed on a chest of drawers or a coffee table. For an additional effect, you can hang lamps nearby, and then the flower will be beautifully illuminated in the evening.

5 Hovey Forster

Hovea is an excellent choice if you need to fill an empty space in the back of the room, where a lot of sunlight does not fall, because the flower tolerates partial shade well. On hot summer days and when the batteries are turned on, spray the crown of the indoor palm tree with a spray gun at least every 2-3 days. Watering is required as the soil dries out, for a large pot it is about once every 10-12 days.

How to fit into the interior

Feel free to put the hovea next to large furniture. Since this is a voluminous plant, such a neighborhood will look harmonious and proportional. Young shoots up to half a meter in size should be put in a prominent place: for example, on a desk.
