We work a lot and are constantly on the move, so at home we want to feel calm and relax, leaving all our worries behind the threshold. When designing an apartment for ourselves, we tried to do something unusual, take risks and experiment in some aspects. We also appreciate the uniqueness, history and life of things. For example, the chest of drawers in the bedroom, which had been traveling to us from France for a very long time, cracked on the countertop a month later. To our own surprise, we weren’t even upset, but thought that it was even more becoming for him.

The apartment was originally divided into two parts by a load-bearing wall. So we have a compact kitchen-living room with a glass partition. Despite the small area, there is a functional kitchen, a dining area, a piano and a sofa group. The remaining space was occupied by a bedroom with a workplace, a bathroom with a laundry room and an entrance hall.

Wooden details play a key role in the interior, creating a special feeling of warmth and comfort. The ceiling in the living room is decorated with decorative beams — we immediately decided to use them, and even a small ceiling height did not prevent us. There is also a niche with shelves made of elm, which were made for us by local craftsmen, preserving the beauty of the living edge of the tree. We like to put our design books, vases and other valuable items on them.

In general, there are a lot of things and decorative items in the interior that we brought from different countries. The most unusual, perhaps, is the French tapestry of the XVIII century hanging over the sofa. It seems to me that it perfectly supports the mood of the interior and creates the presence of history in the new apartment.

Since the kitchen is combined with the living room, I wanted to make it concise enough so that it does not attract attention. We abandoned the tiles on the apron, leaving the wall covered with micro-cement. By the way, we used this material throughout the apartment, including in the shower.

The center of the dining area was a table made of fibroblast made according to our sketches. Next to it there is a built-in bench with additional storage places. We hung an arched mirror above it to create an imitation of a window and make the space even lighter.

In the design of the bedroom, we decided to experiment with materials. The ceiling was finished with laminate, which gave a cozy atmosphere, and the facades of the cabinets were decorated with fabric, due to which large enough furniture does not look heavy.

In the bathroom, we really wanted to make an arched opening to the shower room, since there is a bolt there. However, we were faced with the question of what kind of tile and how exactly to obliterate such an opening. As a result, we decided to completely abandon the use of tiles on the walls. Another object of our love in the bathroom is the sink. It is made of fibreglass and “sunk” into a cabinet with walnut veneer. The sconces located on the sides of the mirror flew to us from Indonesia and perfectly complemented the composition.
