Designer Ekaterina Kirillova designed the interior of this apartment for herself and her family. “I have been working in the field of design for 10 years, and my husband leads the Future experience direction at Huemen Design: he explores the trends of the future, creates concepts and products that people will interact with in the coming years. We spend most of our time in Munich, and we come to St. Petersburg for work and to visit friends and relatives. We wanted to create a clean, not overloaded with decor space with thoughtful functionality,” says Ekaterina.

“Initially, the apartment was divided into two rooms. To make the interior as light and airy as possible, we removed the partition, combining the kitchen, dining room, living room and bedroom. The furniture structure that passes from the hallway into the common living space helps to differentiate the functional zones. She combined a wardrobe, a glass cabinet with lighting and a column in which a refrigerator and an oven are built in.”

“In the design, we preferred calm, natural shades and textures. A single color solution expands the boundaries of space, and the absence of a floor skirting board and a ceiling cornice eliminates unnecessary joining of materials, creating a holistic image.”

“During visits to St. Petersburg, we like to arrange home-cooked dinners for friends and family, so we designed a full-fledged kitchen with an island, in which, despite the lack of upper cabinets, there is enough storage space.”

“The dining area is emphasized by a rice paper lamp from Formakami, and in the living room, a hanging rack made according to my sketches attracts all the attention. Books, ceramics and plants are placed on the shelves, which enhance the feeling of warmth and comfort.”

“Instead of a decorative partition between the bedroom and the living room, we decided to use live plants in a planter from the company 10.16, which also found a place for books and magazines. In the sleeping area there is a shelving and a hanging table with a soft pouf, additional drawers for storing linen are provided inside the base of the bed.”

“We used decorative plaster in the bathroom decoration. Its expressive texture is emphasized by soft illumination. It was decided to give the guest bathroom, which was on the developer’s plan, to a dressing room with a compartment for washing and drying machines.”
