An unusual glamping in the style of midsenchuri appeared in California

HKS Studios and Narrative Design Studio designed a glamping in a California National Park, combining eclecticism and mid-century modern style in the project

AutoCamp Airstream glamping has opened in California’s Joshua Tree National Park. There are 50 specially made trailers and a spacious main building on the territory of 10 hectares. Two American studios were engaged in the project at once: HKS and Narrative Design Studio. The first developed a master plan and equipped the common area, the second was responsible for the interiors of the interiors of trailers and the main building.

Glamping is located in the Joshua Tree National Park.

“The architecture of the main building reflects the eclectic nature of the place in which it is located. And in the interiors, we decided to give a reference to the midsenchuri style, which gave the atmosphere an elegance that is not usually characteristic of this kind of campsites,” the designers of Narrative Design Studio say.

The main building consists of two semicircular volumes connected by a rectangular body. Outside it is sheathed with steel and special pine that can withstand high temperatures (in this region in summer the temperature is constantly kept at 40oC).

So that the high temperature does not cause inconvenience to guests, NKS has positioned the main building so as to minimize the impact of the sun and wind blowing from the desert, and, on the contrary, to open stunning views of the surrounding hills. Inside the building there is a calm atmosphere, most conducive to rest. The semi-circular wooden ceiling, wicker furniture and sand shades combined with black metal accents help AutoCamp Airstream guests relax.
