Lesya Pechenkina, the founder of the Simple interiors bureau, lives in two cities — Moscow and Chelyabinsk. In the capital, the designer designed an apartment of 45 m2 for herself, which she calls “Carrie Bradshaw’s nest”

The paintings are a family collection of the hostess. An old blue plate is part of a service found on Instagram (an extremist organization banned in Russia) @krasivo_kak_ranshe, the rest of the items from it are used in everyday life. The small plates and mug were bought at the ceramics market 4 ceramics.

“It turned out to be more difficult to design for yourself than for customers,” admits Lesya Pechenkina. — I wanted both, and the other, and the third. It was difficult to stop and choose something specific from the whole variety of options. But in the end I managed to come to an agreement with myself and coordinate all the points with my spouse. When we come here, the first thing we do is sit down at a table with a fascinating view of the City.”

The U-shaped kitchen has been made as concise and inconspicuous as possible so that it does not stand out from the living room area.

“Since the apartment is small, the main issue was the layout. What should I prefer? A studio apartment? Or to separate the bedroom into a separate room, making the kitchen-living room more compact? We preferred the second option. It allows you to go to your corners if one person has decided to work more, and the second is going to sleep. In addition, in case of the arrival of relatives, it is nice to have a separate room with a sofa bed, and in the bedroom — even if, as in our case, it is only 10 m2 in area — you need a full double bed with a good orthopedic mattress.” 

“In the painting by Dmitry Artishchev, @artischev_dmitriy, the letter “I” is encrypted. For me, this is an important reminder that in the hustle and bustle of work, you can’t forget about yourself.”

“To give harmonious proportions, the elongated living room was divided into three equivalent zones: a U-shaped kitchen, a sofa area and a dining table area. Each one, though small, is very convenient.”

“Every object in the interior keeps its own history. Once, in a night of working insomnia, I stumbled upon the Instagram (an extremist organization banned in Russia) of the artist Adele Levitova, @art_by_adel, and saw a picture that reminded me of my husband and me: he is turned away from the frame, since he is not public, and I whisper words to him that make his ear turn red and increases, as in the picture. The work was bought at the same moment, and since then I have become a gentle fan of Adele.”

“In each room — in the kitchen, in the hallway, in the bathroom and in the bedroom — a spacious floor-to-ceiling storage system is provided. In a small area, this is the only way not to litter the apartment.”

On days when the owners are at home, there are always flowers in vases. Among the most favorite is the vase “Frida Kahlo”, @vaza_nevaza.

“Things were picked up spontaneously. Everything that randomly fell into my hands, did not fit on our construction sites, surfaced on Instagram (an extremist organization banned in Russia), I bought in a matter of minutes! Love at first sight was, for example, an old easel seen in the Instagram account (an extremist organization banned in Russia) @krasivo_kak_ranshe. I put it on the loggia at the bedroom and now I’m happy to paint behind it.”

“In order not to visually divide the space, a single type of decoration is made in all rooms. And yet, we managed to create a special aura in each room: elegant and imposing in the living room, and more creative and magical in the bedroom.”

“During the renovation, I was actively looking for builders. It was a real challenge! Here, at 45 meters, we changed five brigades. I invited all the masters who wanted to cooperate with my bureau to test the quality for themselves. Almost everyone had to redo everything. But in the end I managed to assemble one of the best construction teams in Moscow. And this is another great bonus of working for yourself.”
