Photo Sergey Krasyuk Style Dasha Soboleva Cozy minimalism is the business card of the bureau of Artem Babayants. Studio designers are used to using an architectural approach to their projects, skillfully working with volumes and light and striving to fill the room with air and clean lines. “There is no pretentiousness and unnecessary details — we immediately agreed with our clients on this at the stage of discussing the project,” says Artem. – The customers are a young couple. We were lucky: from the moment we met and until the end of the work, we spoke the same language. They like minimalism, so our ideas about the future interior coincided.” The living room and kitchen areas are visually separated by a sofa. Photo Sergey Krasyuk Style Dasha Soboleva The main wishes were a large dressing room and good sound insulation of the apartment. Noise insulation was made along the entire contour of the walls and they did not even make sockets in these walls, so as not to worsen its quality. Therefore, in the bedroom, the sockets are displayed in the partition, in the kitchen — right in the countertop. Hallway. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK Style DASHA SOBOLEVA “We worked with an almost square room with windows on one side (such a layout is often found),” says Artem. — On a fairly modest area (55 m2), we managed to accommodate everything we needed: a large dressing room, as the owners wanted, a spacious bathroom, a bedroom and a kitchen with a living room. The main task was to fill all areas of the apartment with natural sunlight. Therefore, in the hallway, for example, we specifically moved the closet away from the wall so that light from the windows in the kitchen could penetrate there, and we got an interesting play of light and shadows in the entrance area” A door leads from the living room to the bedroom. Photo Sergey Krasyuk Style Dasha Soboleva A calm light gray palette was chosen for the interiors, which serves as an excellent neutral background, visually unites and enlarges the space. And so that the apartment does not look boring and monotonous, numerous elements of dark natural wood serve as a contrast. I want to look at the texture and pattern of the tree again and again, it is pleasant to the eyes, calms emotions and creates a cozy atmosphere in the house. And in the bedroom, dark wood is beautifully combined with wall panels covered with textiles. Bedroom. Photo SERGEY KRASYUK Style DASHA SOBOLEVA Given the small area of the apartment, a lot of “tricks” were used to make it bigger, more functional and more ergonomic. For example, one armrest was removed from the sofa, so now you can sit on it from different sides, which is an excellent solution for a small living room. Also, one of the walls here was made glossy: the reflective surfaces visually increase the space, and in addition, the gloss is perfectly combined with the lacquered facade of the kitchen. In the kitchen, in turn, they abandoned the traditional apron, but simply laid out the entire wall with granite from floor to ceiling. The upper cabinets were made smaller than usual and hung them asymmetrically, so that the kitchen does not look bulky and massive. Kitchen. Porcelain stoneware on the wall, Ceramiche Piemme. Photo Sergey Krasyuk Style Dasha Soboleva “We were very lucky with customers who immediately plunged into the project, delved into all the details,” recalls Artem. – I remember how the landlady of the apartment cut out the outline of the future table from cardboard in order to “try it on” to the living room and outline the location of the lamps. And the glass dining table was brought to us broken. While waiting for a replacement from Italy, I had to order a temporary version from IKEA. So even here the hostess did not buy the first one she came across and chose a glass and round one, the same as in the project — that’s such attention to detail!” The project really turned out to be organic: materials, textures, light, color – everything is combined with each other here, forming harmony and order.
