The St. Petersburg apartment at the time of the beginning of the design has been rented for a long time, but still with an old renovation. The task that was set before us was of a rather pragmatic nature — given the successful location of the object, to create a universal attractive image for the guests of St. Petersburg and, with minimal investment in the implementation of the project, maximize the rental cost. Of course, there was no talk of any bright colors in the format of this project,” says Alexey Golub and Yulia Onosova. The wardrobe in the hallway flows smoothly into the decorative library area. To do this, the designers combined IKEA with custom-made showcases. Accessories, BoConcept. Therefore, there are repeating shapes in every room, and the decoration flows from one room to another” The chest of drawers and sofa were bought by the customer. Carpet, kover.ru . Poufs, IKEA. Photo Ivan Sorokin style: Maria Nechaeva “Despite the excellent location, the house built in the early noughties, in which the apartment is located, does not have any pronounced characteristic architectural features, so we did not impose on the object the techniques characteristic of the old foundation. Instead, several elements hinting at St. Petersburg motifs were introduced, such as inserts in stucco cornices and wall panels.” Wall panels, Orac Decor. Coffee tables, BoConcept. Instead, we suggested opening the hallway to the light, formally combining the kitchen and hallway. These are still different rooms, but the light is now distributed evenly across all the nooks and crannies of the main living spaces. The bathroom has also been expanded due to part of the former corridor, allowing to organize a utility area with a washing machine and dryer. A cozy small bedroom has become an extreme room, and the living room is something like a transit space between it and the kitchen-dining room.” The laconic kitchen is made to order according to the sketches of architects, part of the design hides within itself through communal communications. Technique, Miele. The floor is porcelain stoneware, Italon. Photo Ivan Sorokin style: Maria Nechaeva “The key architectural technique was the maximum expansion of space due to the rejection of part of the partitions, the increase in openings, the distribution of built-in pieces of furniture to create the effect of a larger space than there actually is.” Table, La Redoute. Photo Ivan Sorokin style: Maria Nechaeva “Decoratively, we used techniques that allow us to visually increase the cost, using not expensive, but high-quality materials. Despite the use of many IKEA elements, as well as parts of the customer’s furniture, due to accessories, light, soft contrasts, decorative finishes and graphic walls, it was possible to create a respectable atmosphere.” The bed and bedside tables are made to order. The mirror insert at the wall visually facilitates the design and creates a perspective. The location of the shower combined with the bath area is designed to provide maximum functionality without reducing the total space. And at the same time, you can splash around in the bathtub — everything that pours out will certainly go into the shower drain.” Mirrors are made to order, Lavenir.
