“The facade of this experimental panel house built in 1977 has a complex rhythm of balconies and loggias, the windows overlook Sokolniki Park, the constructivist building of the ice hockey Palace and the Ferris wheel. All this, combined with ceilings only 2.6 meters high, led me to speculate about the principles of Le Corbusier’s work, his famous statements “A house is a car for housing” and Everything around is geometry!”, says designer Tatiana Antonova.

“This approach to design was approved by the customers — a middle-aged married couple, both doctors. Their main wish was to make the apartment functional and comfortable for living.”

“The owner of the apartment was born and grew up on the sea,” Tatiana continues. – That’s why I asked that the apartment be bright with accents of blue. Considering our latitude and the solar regime during the year, I still chose, as it were, slightly subdued shades of white: the color of slaked lime, gray quartz, pale blue bone china, cooled coals. The colors of the Designer’s Guild and Little Greene palette are mainly used.”

On the left — the doors to the living room, made to order according to sketches by Tatiana Antonova. “In order to save space, the doors were made to go into the walls—” says the designer. – The decor on the extension part repeats the pattern on the door leaf, and the glass “raindrops” creates a beautiful play of light.” Poof, 101 Copenhagen. Paints, Designer’s Guild and Little Greene.

“In order to visually increase the height of the doorways, a desudeport was used in the living room and corridor. The walls and ceiling are painted in the same color, which makes the border between them almost invisible and adds air and volume to the space.”

“Children and grandchildren of customers live nearby, often come to visit and stay overnight. Therefore, another wish of the owners was to provide a sufficient number of beds. So there were conditionally “female” and “male” bedrooms, which differ in character and the presence of a work area.”

“In order to place a workplace, a place to sleep and a storage space with a wardrobe in the men’s bedroom with a total area of 14 m2, I literally calculated everything to the centimeter, and all the furniture is made to order according to my sketches. The storage area and workplace are highlighted in color to slightly “correct” the shape of the room, to make it less elongated. The Hammerhead etching is a tribute to constructivist history, the rhythm of its lines echoes the drawing of the headboard.”

“In the women’s bedroom – everything is softer, more rounded lines of the bed, the round work of Oksana Nazarova. The clear shapes of the dressing table (it is also made according to my sketches) are softened by an elegant oval mirror hanging over it and a funny fur ottoman.”
