Apartment with fireplace and terrace in Saint Petersburg

Creating the interior of a St. Petersburg apartment, CHI Design studio sought to find a balance between the rigor of lines and the softness of shapes and colors. Designer Alexandra Chigintseva tells about the project

The customer of the project is engaged in real estate: rental and resale. Her main wish was to create an interesting holistic interior with its own expressive character. At the same time, it was important to be within a given budget, which was relatively small.

One of the main advantages of the apartments was the free layout. We have organized two separate bedrooms, two bathrooms with showers, a living room with a fireplace, a kitchen with a dining table and a breakfast bar, as well as a spacious hallway. Another advantage is the panoramic glazing, which runs almost around the entire perimeter of the apartment, a terrace of 30 sq.m.

The entire interior is made in a calm gray-beige palette, which is diluted with several bright accents. The first thing the guests see when they enter the apartment is a bright red kitchen apron in a cage. To balance these two zones, we also used a geometric print in the design of the entrance door. In the living room, nothing distracts from the rest. A large soft sofa is complemented by comfortable armchairs of a muted orange shade. To create an evening atmosphere, you can light floor lamps and light a fireplace.

Both bedrooms are decorated in brick tones. One of them managed to create a circular layout. The wall separating the sleeping area from the dressing area is covered with textured plaster in a delicate terracotta color and gives the whole room a character. Also, with the help of color accents on the walls and mirrors, we adjusted the shape of the second bedroom and visually increased the height of the doorways.

Bathrooms differ from each other only in the color scheme. In both bathrooms, everything you need is located on a minimum area. For additional insolation, we made a window, and placed a lightbox above the shower area, giving uniform illumination.

We like to play on contrasts. In this project, we decided to add a collection of ceramics, which we started collecting together with the customer at flea markets. Terracotta krynki and pots perfectly fit into the verified “clean” in shapes and lines of the interior and reduced the degree of rigor.
