Architects Studio in the Thai forest Design 22.04.2022 Architectural studio Sher Maker from Thailand has designed an unusual workspace for itself, which is located on the bank of a river in the forest Photo Sher Maker Architectural studio Sher Maker from Thailand has built an office for itself, which is located almost in the forest. The building is located near Chiang Mai International Airport and stands on the bank of the river, on a plot densely overgrown with acacias and shrubs. In this project, the architects sought to embody everything that is close to them: the principles of sustainable development, loyalty to local traditions, experimental architecture and the use of local materials. The workshop building is made of materials found nearby. Photo Sher Maker The space is organized around a spacious courtyard, covered with a roof. Photo Sher Maker The headquarters of Sher Maker is a low building with a pitched roof. During the construction, secondary materials were used: old wooden and steel frames and bricks of old stoves, which lined the floor of the courtyard. The authors of the project tried to minimize the costs for the project as much as possible — about 18 thousand euros were spent on everything about everything. The architects sought to minimize the felling of trees. Photo Sher Maker Opposite the office area there is a workshop where designers work almost outdoors. Photo Sher Maker The studio has two floors, on which there is an office area and a workshop, as well as a place where designers test new materials and design pieces of furniture. It is noteworthy that the final appearance of the building was formed only during construction: “Working on this project, we didn’t know until the end where it would eventually lead us. When the building was built, it took us another year to make it a part of our daily life,” the designers say. There is a seating area with a ping-pong table in the courtyard.
