Boutique hotel in a former bank building in Wilmington Design 16.11.2022 Method Co Hotel company and Stokes Architecture Studio turned a 19th-century bank building into a fashionable boutique hotel Photo Matthew Williams The hotel company Method Co and the architectural studio Stokes Architecture have completed work on a new boutique hotel in Wilmington. Its name — The Quoin — is pronounced as the English coin — “coin”, and at the same time comes from the Old French word meaning “corner”. Thus, the authors of the project sought to pay respect to the history and architecture of the building in which the hotel is located. Built in 1855, it is distinguished by arched windows and moldings, which the team carefully preserved. In the lobby, a cozy sitting area is organized around the fireplace, furnished with shaker-style furniture. Nearby there is a restaurant with soft banquettes and oak tables on brass legs. The basement floor was occupied by a cocktail lounge, which is decorated with a mural by the Philadelphia artist Reverend Michael Alan. On the roof there is a bar with a view of the courtyard and the Old Town Hall of Wilmington. The walls are decorated with wallpaper with floral motifs, and the floors are decorated with herringbone parquet. The furnishings are complemented by king-size beds, custom-made furniture, vintage carpets and art objects. Photo Matthew Williams Photo Matthew Williams Original content from the site
