Bright apartment of 80 m2 with bright accents in Moscow

Architect Evgenia Matveenko tells how she managed to create a harmonious interior for two people with different characters

We created the interior of this apartment for a young couple. Customers are very different in nature. One is a creative, enthusiastic nature with excellent taste, the other leads a more measured lifestyle, devotes most of his time to work and often goes on business trips. Therefore, our task was to create a calm, relaxing environment, which at the same time will inspire creative experiments.

The central place in the apartment was occupied by a spacious kitchen-living room. On both sides of it there is a study and a bedroom with a separate bathroom and dressing room. This layout allows each of the owners to do their own business without interfering with each other.

The main space is also visually divided into several zones. We tried to make the kitchen as convenient and easy to clean as possible: all the storage is hidden behind laconic facades that merge with the shade of the walls. The dining table smoothly turns into a kitchen island, at which, if desired, guests can also be accommodated. The customers wanted to dilute the neutral interior with bright colors. So a bright red sofa appeared in the living room.

An office with a yellow ceiling and wallpaper with an image with motifs of a blooming garden reflects the love of one of the owners for painting and art. Floral wallpaper, by the way, was the customer’s wish — they remind him of his beloved grandmother’s house. We were also asked not to make a standard bookshelf. Instead, we designed rotating shelves with mirrored walls. They make the room elegant and allow you to “play” with the space in different ways.

For the bedroom and bathroom, we chose calm tones, trying to recreate the atmosphere of an expensive hotel. We wanted to leave the space as “clean” as possible, so we hid the chest of drawers in the wall under the TV.

We have organized a laundry area in the guest bathroom. In addition, we have made a special entrance for the cat so that the toilet door does not have to be constantly kept open and attract excessive attention to the tray.
