Classic and modern: apartment 175 m2 in the center of Moscow

Designer Nino Zvarkovskaya has created a stylish interior in which classic elements are combined with expressive textures of natural materials and modern furniture

“The project’s customers — a young family with two weather girls — decided to move to new housing in connection with the girls’ admission to the first grade. The apartment is located in a residential complex on Malaya Ordynka, which combines the features of modern and Old Moscow architecture. It is this mix of different eras and styles that has become the main source of inspiration for us,” says designer Nino Zvarkovskaya.

“So classic moldings appeared on the walls of the apartment, which are interspersed with modern wooden panels. The doors are made according to the same principle: some of them are hidden from the eyes and are a logical continuation of the composition of panels, complementing it with inserts of quartzite.”

“One of the wishes of the customers was to divide the kitchen and living room areas. To do this, we used sliding partitions. When they are closed, the entire living room is reflected in the glass, making it seem even more spacious. Different lighting scenarios also help to differentiate the space. There is a built-in backlight in the kitchen, which emphasizes the white quartzite apron, and marble columns and showcases with dishes and books are illuminated in the recreation area.”

“The main decoration of the interior was the labradorite stone, which has a wide palette — from dark gray to bright blue. “For half a year, our team has been looking around the world for slabs that can be suitable for this project. We used them to decorate the wall behind the TV, which became the main focal point in the apartment, and the kitchen island that supports this composition. Starting from the living room, the stone passed through all the other zones, appearing as inserts on the doors and the floor in the hall.”

“The master bedroom is made in a calm gray palette, which is amused by the brilliance of brass details. The wall behind the headboard was decorated with a bas-relief depicting the leaves of tropical plants. At the request of the young housewives, we decorated the children’s rooms in the same style, but in different colors — powdery and mint shades.”

“I am sure that the guest bathroom should be beautiful, and in this project we tried to make it as spectacular as possible. In the center of attention is a free—standing bionic shell and drop-shaped lamps, and white quartzite with illumination completed the look of the interior. As a result, this bathroom has become a favorite for customers.”
