The new implemented project is an excellent example of an apartment for temporary residence, where it is cozy, there is everything you need, but there is nothing superfluous.

Customers and tasks

The owner of this apartment is a businesswoman who does not live in Chelyabinsk permanently, but often comes. And in order to make it comfortable to stay, she bought her own home. She invited designer Tatiana Basova to design it.

“The hostess really wanted the apartment to have everything necessary for life: a washing machine, a water heater, water filtration, sound insulation, the most comfortable and high-quality mattress, high doorways for a sense of “space and air”, a table with high bar stools to emphasize the status of the room for a comfortable temporary stay, but also friends were able to visit and sit at a high table. She was used to comfort in everyday life and did not want to deny herself convenience,” the author of the project comments on the tasks. 

Redevelopment

Initially, the apartment was a eurodome: a kitchen-living room, a separate bedroom, a bathroom and a large hall. The hostess was not in the mood for redevelopment, but when she saw Tatiana’s proposal, she agreed. The designer suggested moving the entrance to the kitchen-living room in order to separate the kitchen and more correctly divide this room into two separate zones. And also to reduce the bedroom in order to allocate a dressing room on the won area. 

Finishing

Paint was chosen for wall decoration. There is a high-class wear-resistant laminate on the floor (the owner comes to the apartment with a small dog, so the practicality of the coating was important). In the bathroom, a tile with a sandy texture and a small relief was chosen for the walls, which was favorably highlighted by the backlight. There is granite on the floor in the wet zone. 

Furniture and storage systems

The kitchen set is compactly built in, but at the same time it is quite roomy. There is only the necessary equipment, but there is enough storage space, even more than is needed now, according to the author of the project, some shelves are still empty. 

The bar counter, which is a continuation of the headset and a zoning element between the kitchen and the living room, is installed on a figured base. And bar stools with bright upholstery attract even more attention to this area. 

Despite the fact that the apartment was supposed to be for a temporary wish, the hostess appreciated the designer’s proposal for a separate dressing room. It has become the main place for storage. Not only everyday things that a girl comes to town with are stored here, but also suitcases, an ironing board, a vacuum cleaner, bed linen and other necessary accessories. In addition, the presence of a wardrobe allowed us to abandon the closets in the bedroom. There is only a large bed with a long headboard (as a prototype, they took the image of expensive hotel rooms, another wish of the customer) and a pair of bedside tables.

A small wardrobe for outerwear was made in the hallway, and next to it a utility section, where the water heater is hidden. For small things, a beautiful chest of drawers with a relief facade is provided. In the bathroom there is a narrow pencil case that turns into a cabinet under the sink.

Lighting 

The landlady wanted to use different lighting scenarios, and the author of the project worked them out. The general upper one is represented by spot built-in lamps. And the accent is divided into zones. These are suspensions over the bar counter and hanging lamps-bunches on both sides of the bed. As well as the lights in the bathroom wall, shelves in the niche, mirrors.

The hostess aspired to elegance in the interior, but I suggested mixing everything with eclecticism — an absolutely modern solution combining elements of neoclassicism (we see it in balance and symmetry, soft color solutions, decorative and architectural elements in the form of cornices and skirting boards, ceiling height), a little Art Deco (the shape of a pedestal and a lamp in the hall, a fireplace in the living room, a luxurious basement in the kitchen in the form of a curved line — all these are elements of this direction) and minimalism (clear lines, contrast and gloss, clear cleaned shapes). Also, the hostess wanted to bring something not too functional to the interior, but rather atmospheric – this object was the fireplace in the living room area.
