STYLE: Julia Janson Among the main wishes of the customer, the mother of a medical student, was to create for her daughter a cozy and functional interior that would reflect her character: multifaceted and energetic. The landlady studies in Vienna and comes to St. Petersburg several times a year. It was important to provide an additional sleeping place, a workspace, a comfortable dining area and a place for a washing machine in the bathroom in the apartment. Photo Maxim Maximov. STYLE: Julia Janson The work had to be completed by the 20th anniversary of the hostess, so they decided to leave the layout unchanged. In addition, the original layout seemed to the designer competent and suitable for the customer’s requests. “A long, but not too narrow corridor allowed us to place a full—fledged cabinet and storage areas,” says the author of the project. — The bathroom with an area of 6.5 square meters has everything you need, including a utility block. Two windows in the main room let in a lot of light and open up a beautiful panorama of the north side of the city. Thanks to this layout, we avoided moving the walls and left everything as it is.” Recreation area. Decor and textiles, H&M Home. Radiator screen, “SCREENS.rf”. Photo Maxim Maximov. STYLE: Julia Janson The small area dictated special attention to the ergonomics of the apartment. The kitchen, living room and bedroom represent a single space, and in order to enhance the effect of integrity and organicity, the designers used the same floor covering for the entire apartment. Due to the elongated rectangular shape of the room, it was possible to add a kitchen island and put the cooktops and hood on it, which made it possible to make a small space more functional. All kitchen work surfaces are made of quartz agglomerate and natural marble. There is also a recreation area where you can drink tea, admiring the panorama of the city from the windows. To increase the depth of the window sill plane, the designers used a spectacular technique: the entire perimeter of the slopes was carried forward. A fragment of the living room. STYLE: Julia Janson In the living room, the designers placed a boudoir area with a vintage French Pineapple mirror. Above the sofa is a bright painting by Olesya Alynina, which has become the perfect accent in this interior. On the balcony, decorated with granite, there is an office and an extra bed. The armchair-bed is positioned so that a wide panorama of the city opens. During the implementation of the project, this place was recognized by the designers as the most cozy, because thanks to the large window it is flooded with light and opens a wonderful view from the window, from which it is so difficult to break away. STYLE: Julia Janson There are no clear visual boundaries between the main room and the bathroom due to the lighting and finishing materials that smoothly transition from one zone to another. Here the authors of the project placed a utility block with a washing machine, boiler and storage areas. Bathroom. Photo Maxim Maximov. STYLE: Julia Janson The main idea of the project — to make the interior space a continuation of the exterior — determined the color scheme of the interior: heavenly colors and shades of sunset, juicy foliage. And the small area of the apartment did not become a hindrance in creating an ergonomic, spacious space: “There are certain features of working in a small space,” says the designer, “the project, as a rule, needs to be done in a short time, with full implementation. And to fit the inappropriate. In this apartment, the work went quickly and the layout was perfectly organized, providing everything that is necessary.” Apartment in St. Petersburg.
